Bad idea to come back to blackberry now?
- I agree. I too am considering to Finally upgrade from my 9900 that keeps giving me SOS service to the Z30 once it arrives here...10-12-13 12:43 PMLike 0
- Ugh.
OP. ultimately it's your decision but remember that random members on an internet fan site hardly know you or, forgive me, have your best interests in mind versus their own fan proclivities. Many also seem bad at reading comprehension. So take anything I say with that in mind too
Let's deal with hardware first. If you buy a BB now, it won't stop working no matter what BBRY's fate. You may not get updates in the future. That may or may not have security issues but that importance will depend on your usage patterns. Parts may get harder to find but that is typically not a huge issue and you may change phones more frequently anyway. Only you know that. In the short run, even for a couple years, not an issue.
It is true that the one big area that is impacted is apps. So... (my opinion ONLY)
IF you really need/want certain apps that aren't on BB World and IF you really don't want to side load Android apps and IF said apps are critical to your needs/wants and IF BB hardware is not as critical as apps, don't get a BB.
If you really like and want the BB hardware and if apps really don't matter, get the BB.10-12-13 12:58 PMLike 4 - Oh, I see- anyone who doesn't sing the praises of BlackBerry is automatically suspect?! Maybe they just have a different opinion and truly do not think the phone is worth all that. I paid for my q10 and am entitled to my opinion of it. The level of paranoia on this site towards those with differing opinions is amusing and disturbing!

Sorry OP. I'm done here. Get a phone that you will like and matches what you want. Lots of options. You can link your account to the other mobile nations site and ask about their phones there. The only significant difference between all the options for the average user is apps. Android and Apple have them all. Windows and BlackBerry have some but each have their own advantages. BlackBerry at least has the ability to sideload apps but it's not an option for most people, but most people here will never need to anyway. Enjoy whatever phone you choose I'm sure you will.xiaohuaxing likes this.10-12-13 02:31 PMLike 1 - Ugh.

This is not about behavior or os most expensive brand but about the needs and ecosystem needs
http://www.pcworld.com/article/20533...lackberry.html10-12-13 02:52 PMLike 0 - Used to have the blackberry and loved it but have been an iPhone user for the last 3-4 years. Lately I have been getting very nostalgic for the keyboard and Blackberry in general, as I'm getting sick of the iPhone and don't really find any excitement in upgrading to the 5s. But with all the news about Blackberry's demise and lack of apps on Blackberry, I'm wary of going back. While I won't miss much about the iPhone, I will miss the apps a lot and that's the major factor keeping me from going back to Blackberry. Is it a wise idea to spend money on a phone made by a company who may not be able to support it for much longer and not have any apps to use??

Posted from my Z10 running 10.2.0.174310-12-13 06:13 PMLike 0 - No. Most here like BB10 and at the same time have told OP about needing certain apps and the options available. You on the other hand have flat out said it's crap and that OP would NEED to sideload apps to be able to make the phone useful. Pure BS. You have no idea what the OP needs and you are trying hard to push the iPhone on a BlackBerry fan site. That to me is very suspect. You clearly never learned to use your phone but what does it matter. You have an iPhone. So your opinion here is useless if you really know nothing about the Q10. BB10 phones are very useful tools. The fact that apps are hard to get has been known since the launch 9 months ago. Your ranting here on a BlackBerry fan site has been disturbing.

- Thanks for the replies. While I'm not the heaviest app user, several apps are staples for me such as Facebook, Google Maps, banking apps, some shopping, grocery lists, etc. I know majority of these don't exist in Blackberry and I might be able to get by with sideloading Android apps....but how well do the apps really work with that? But on the other hand, I primarily use my phone to text, email and make phone calls so that is why I loved the keyboard so much because I am a heavy texter. iPhone's tiny keyboard and crappy autocorrect drives me crazy sometimes! I don't know, I need to think about it some more....
When it was time for me to evaluate phones again, I was so sure I wouldn't get a touchscreen because of the keyboard (iOS virtual keyboard is the worst!). I have an Android and have the latest Swiftkey and Swype and the BB10 virtual/on screen keyboard destroyed them both in my tests. The swiping up, prediction, and autocorrect on the Z10 really gives the physical keyboard a run for its money. However, I also had to get the Q10 because I needed close to perfect accuracy that Z10 almost delivers. So I alternate depending on what I have to do. If I know it's heavy emails, texting, phone calls and battery life, I go with the Q10. Z10 comes in when I want to play wide-screen games and movies.
As for the apps, all the key social ones like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn are already on BlackBerry. I have one of the more recent BB10.2 leaked OS and the unlocked Android runtime and sideloaded Android's Google Maps, Netflix, Instagram, Candy Crush Saga and a couple banking apps.
Anyways, just my experience so far with the Q10! Good luck on what you decide is best for you.
Posted via CB1010-13-13 11:23 PMLike 0 - So f ing superior, that their giving them away, that's because they can't sell the dam things. If you want apps that are readily available for other platforms, just side load and install leaked OS. Also just ignore the fact that BlackBerry might ,might not have consumer devices , because for the most part, only people who have BlackBerrys already are buying the new devices. Why would anyone want to buy a new phone with the BS that goes along with getting apps that they want.

Yeah, it's true that Apple and Android have better apps library and thus more appealing to app hungry consumers. However, not everyone is "app hungry ".
BB10 platform is at least at par with other platforms, except for robust apps library. I can testify that the BB10 OS handles all my professional needs effectively and efficiently; so exactly what are you trying to say that BB10 phones can't do again?
Did you realize that there are people like me that are quite "content and happy " multiple platforms users? I use iPad for some gaming but strictly use my Z10 (and soon "the thing of beauty" Z30) for my professional and business plus occasionally social needs. Guess what? I'm having my cake and eating it too!
Nothing wrong if the OP decides to keep her IPhone and get a BB10 phone, assuming it's economically feasible for her.
To each their own.

Posted via CB1010-14-13 03:22 PMLike 0 - Your reasoning doesn't make any sense at all. A phone being good/great often has no direct correlation with the health of the company. There are many companies with fantastic products/services that are badly managed or run. Also having great apps ecosystem doesn't have any direct bearing on the effectiveness of a phone/device's operating system.

Posted via CB1010-14-13 06:12 PMLike 0 - Oh my...I didn't realize my question would result in a fierce debate like this! I appreciate everyone's viewpoints and opinions and am taking them all into account. I had a chance to play with a Q10 last week in a retail store and from my initial experience, I felt the platform was intuitive and very easy to use and more productive than the iPhone. I also loved the keyboard, it felt like coming home when I started pressing on the QWERTY keys. I discussed it with my fiance, who is also considering going back to Blackberry so our current plan is that he will buy a Q10 and I will have the opportunity to use his and play around with it for awhile and then make a decision then. In the meantime, I will look at Blackberry World to see what other apps are available so I have a better idea of what's out there now. Thanks everyone!10-16-13 05:08 PMLike 0
- I think give blackberry time and they will take off again. The last few weeks they are starting to be noticed
Posted via CB1010-17-13 12:30 AMLike 0 - I say if your not sure of you want a BlackBerry and are hovering over the idea of it and can't come to a decision, go and get a bb10 second hand. Less money, you can see if you like it, no need to resign a contract and in the end you don't like it you still have your iPhone and selling a BlackBerry is very easy
Good luck!!!!
