Is gmail a good backup?
If I have the contacts app save each contact to gmail, do I need to save to sim?
I'm getting duplicate fields because contacts have info on the local storage, the sim and gmail.

Trust me get contactx from BBW it's great and saves to your sd card.
I doesn't say anything for duplicate fields. It only merges duplicate contacts.
Also is a number is saved as mobile 5165555555 it can have another number saved as mobile 515-555-5555
Does it fix that?
Which switches do you have to have turned on in the contact settings?
BBM is the only two I have on. And your numbers have to be the same,

I use firechest to backup my contacts.

Even I use Fire chest. But recently upgraded to Backup pro, the better version of fire chest. It's the best!

Nop but your BlackBerry ID automatically does a backup of BBM.
