The only solution for a sig in text messages is to create an autotext entry and then as you are composing the message, just type the autotext keyword to insert the sig.
Remember, the sig will count against your message character limit. I don't know if AT&T supports extended SMS or not. Some carriers do; Verizon does not on the 8830.
