FierceWireless.com reported today that Jeff Clemow, Sprint's Director of Business Product Marketing said that Sprint Nextel will release an updated version of the BlackBerry Tour (Atlas?) that will include WiFi. "Sprint is embracing WiFi in all its major devices going forward".

Here is a link to the article: http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/...ear/2009-07-09

So, are you all going to go ahead with the Tour purchase on Sunday, or wait for the Atlas?

CX has stated that the tour will be the best device for CDMA users for a while that means better than the atlas. The atlas is going to replace the curve

Pretty stupid for them to announce this as it may adversely affect Tour sales.

If it has wi fi, maybe it will be released on the nextel side of the company?

I don't think any of the articles actually said that the Tour w/ wifi being released next year is the Atlas. I thought it was settled that the Atlas was the CDMA Gemini?

Sounds good, but I'm still going to get the Tour this weekend. Besides, I'm a sprint Premier customer and I'll be eligible for another full upgrade end of next summer.

When/Where was this confirmed?? I believe Radio has eluded to the Atlas as the production name(NOT a codename) of the 8530.

Ok Tour LIKE. Some even call the Tour the CDMA Bold, which we also know is not true. In some ways it's better than the Bold, BUT it still don't have the CPU horsepower of the Bold!

who cares - only difference between tour and bold is more mem and better camera on tour and better screen and wifi on bold. cpu speed is completely negligible and really just a talking point.

Hmm, don't think so. But I do understand the CDMA Bold comment. The Bold is the best GSM BB out there, and the Tour will be the best CDMA BB out there.
