That's very cool. This is the kind of thing that QNX is good at. Phones, not so much. But autonomous robots are definitely a use case that makes a lot of sense.

Now how much is Google/BD paying for the QNX licenses?

Unfortunately, it seems as if gifs don't work on the app.

I seen the gif yesterday and the rumor was it was running on QNX. Very impressive. Almost scary

I imagine they started that project when QNX was open source for a lot of stuff.... but even so for projects (research/development) it usually is free. Now when they move to mass production and distribute these to everyone in the world.... that is when QNX would reap the rewards of supporting this right now.

Paired with BlackBerry's secure network and the NOC, that would allow the units to get regular updates. And with Mike Lazaridis work with quantum computers, they'll be able to create a Virtual Interactive Kinesthetic Interface to oversee it all......

No worries, Sarah. If QNX has ANY direct involvement, as with Gateway & BB, John's greatgrandkids will be long dead of old age before QNX matures Skynet into functionally self sustainable status. Past patterns indicate QNX will "eye candy" impress board members with micro kernel's impressive possibilities and then over promise, under deliver, and take years when months are all they have.

Microkernel is a truly marvelous concept that probably should dominate the 21st century, IMO. But, sorry to say, unless things have changed post Dan Dodge, Atlas' best chance of maturing to full functionality will be to use QNX but keep their crew out of ALL other decision making. IMO. Fwiw.

I can see the FBI wanting a back door so it can monitor what this contraption is doing. And BB will comply as it is the law.

Good enough for robots, oddly not good enough for the phones to be used by people in huge numbers. Go figure.
