Apps for Wi-Fi w/o Data Plan

Hi CrackBerries,

I am an absolute addicted Berrygreenhorn. Inherited my first BB from my dad last week. I am using it with my own plan w/o data coverage. Would like to find out other working Wi-fi apps. Thanks for the help!

I have yet to disable the data plan on my phone but will be dropping it soon. I just tried turning off the data services under connection options and running the phone only off of wifi and none of my apps are working! I couldn't even get the browser to work it tells me to connect to a network.

I'm using the blackberry 8900 with 4.6.1.231 is there an app to get pass this or do I need to modify the phone settings?

You have to have the data services on.

Superpapa305, rlp32 is right:

1. data services needs to be "on"
2. under options>mobile network>connection preference Wi-Fi Only
3. hard reset, i.e. pull out the battery and put it back in (as a result, the cell will connect directly to wifi and not to the mobile network!)

I would add Pandora. It works for me with wifi :)

Pandora is awesome.

Do/did you have a dataplan? I guess Pandora does not work when you don't have data at all, unless you applied for the bb enabler.

The new version supports wifi :)

OK not sure this is the right place but have question that goes along with this.
I have the 8900 Curve on ATT. When at home I get very little signal, if any. (I live in the out in the country) I do have wireless Internet through ATT also works great.

My phone hooks right up and all these programs work great

OK here comes the Issue
My Phone does not work (to place or receive calls)
MMS Texting does not work
SMS Texting does not work

I have been told it has something to do with UMA (not sure about)
Is there something that I can do about this, a setting that I can change in Phone or the VersaLink Modem.

Any Ideas or suggestions?
