This has probably been asked before but I can't find he an answer anywhere.

Basically, Im on a new Unlocked Curve 8900, which was made for t-mobile

I slipped my sim in, turn wifi on, and everything works fine. internet and everything.

except when I try to use apps like Facebook, and Aim. It says Service unavailable. What the heck?

I heard something about updating the TCP/IP to that of ATT's? I also heard something about service books?

    Help please.

Also, sorry in advance if this has been asked so many times before

You need a data plan in order to access those apps. Even if it is through wifi

Appworld or any apps will not work without a data plan.

If everything starts working on the WiFi then how will RIM sustain BES. Most homes and Offices have Wifi available.

I don't understand why though? It worked when I had t-mobile, even tho I did not have a data plan.

I have compiled my own list of apps that work over Wi-Fi. I don't have a data plan and I am able to use Facebook, Twitter, maps, search, Email, IMs and more.
Check my blog post for the apps and their links.
