I can imagine google maps will work maybe but I would check roaming rates so as not to get charged too much.

I thought it was GPS? Why charge? I will have global data plan with Verizon... If you are accurate you have just saved me lots o $$$$$

You'll get charged every time it has to download the map. It only uses GPS to figure out where you are....
