The media has been conditioned to write negative headlines about BlackBerry the past few years because that's what draws eyeballs. Writing about the 10.2.1 update would be a waste of space.

Perhaps BlackBerry should have refreshed the UI and named it "BlackBerry 11" instead. That may have garnered more attention.

its like comparing the opening of Willy Wonkas chocolate factory to your local corner shop hidden in a backstreet

10.2.1 is huge for crackberry because we all know whats in the leak and we will know whatll be in the official release, no one else differentiates 10.2.1 from any other os update release because theres so many minor ones bb releases unlike the one or two big updates a year the other os's release. i doubt theyd view the ability to sideload black markets (except amazon as thats a legit market) and apks directly as a huge positive, it looks like a weakness to the outside world as the os is reliant on backdooring off another companies app range without official support or approval

Actually, I am glad that large tech sites like The Verge etc are not posting any news about the recent update. They always manage to turn everything related BlackBerry into something negative and also have an annoying, taunting tone in each and every article about BlackBerry. I am not a tinfoil hat guy, but sometimes I cannot help but wonder whether or not those tech writers get paid to bash BlackBerry.

Not sure how people search for BlackBerry News, but all the major sites are reporting the latest 10.2.1 update. Nothing negative about them at all. Not even the major Canadian publications.

It is pretty sad to see no tach blogs blogging on this decently big bb10 update, when you do little articles on ios 7 fixes, or beta releases.

But as others said I'm not surprised by there actions.

BGR, Engadget, etc. None of the biggies really covered it. But what has changed. Yes the OS has improved. However the "app gap" remains. The market share still looks crap. So will this OS change things, will consumers suddenly drop their current device and go Team BB10 - probably not.

BlackBerry needs to lead the pack, buy editorial space etc. This isn't rocket science, surely not.

We are arguably using the best OS out there, yet nobody knows it!!!

    Frustrating.

    Disappointed!!!

Folks and Blackberry purist, the new OS10 update is a great day for Blackberry folks who have stuck by the brand and OS10 thru thick and thin. I too have come back to Blackberry because of the the 10.2.1 update and the z30. I bought the z10 the day it was released here in the USA, I put up with the restarts and OS 10.0 issues. I finally put my z10 in drawer and went back to my iPhone 5S because I was pissed off and felt they should have done a better job launching a new OS then what they did, period.

Ok, now thats over!!! I went to a Verizon store and looked at a new z30, the salesperson in the store was shocked to see I was even considering a Blackberry product!!! He said I was the first person that had even asked about it, WTF?? I proceeded to show him all the great features with the priority hub, peek and so on. He just looked at me with a puzzled looked and waited on some folks looking at the iPhone 5S display.

    Disappointed???

Yes, I am disappointed that no one from Blackberry is going into these carriers here and supporting the brand? How about some advertising? have some workshops where a team from Blackberry where to come in and put on a workshop to showcase the great features of their product? Think outside of the box, the brand is dead here in the USA and it's a dam shame. Blackberry made allot of money here in the early days by building a great product and they can do it again. I feel that blackberry can regain some of the lost market if they put some effort into doing it for god's sake.

    Disappointed!!!!

I recently updated my iPhone 5S to OS 7.0.4 and have had major issues with the device restarting, apps not working correctly and crashing, this was one of the main reasons for giving Blackberry another chance. I use Mac's in my business and as much as I am a fan of Apple, I have had it with the iPhone and IOS. I know allot of iPhone users here that feel the same as I do, but are unsure to come back to blackberry based on no one wanting to support the brand here anymore?

Instead of paying celebrities who are only using your product because they are getting paid to, put some effort into getting the consumer back to your brand here in the USA? My carrier T-Mobile has all but abandoned the brand here, none of the stores carry it and if you do go into a store and asked how to get one, you are told the product is terrible, most folks returned their z10's and so on. They then proceed to sell you an Android or Apple product, WTF??

    Disappointed!!!

No, I am not disappointed with my decision to come back to Blackberry and the z30. I really like the OS 10.2.1 update and it's great features. I even praised the global rollout of the 10.2.1 update and received mine yesterday on my unlocked z30 running the 10.2.1.195 leak on T-Mobile USA. and I am a happy camper.

What I am disappointed in is the lack of support from the folks up there in Waterloo for the consumer and carriers here in the USA? I have seen nothing in the way of them trying to reassure the loyal users and carriers here in the USA that they are going to be around for a while?

That's what I am disappointed in, not the software or hardware on my z30 which I really like and has become my daily driver. I have shown my loyalty by coming back to the brand, I would like to see something from the folks in charge at Blackberry that shows the same loyalty for BB users here in the USA?

It's the fact that we need to act like we lead the pack.

Apple act it, even when they don't in specific areas, and they get customers from it.

Ask any teenager in Australia, does BlackBerry traditionally have good security measures?
    They'd have NO idea!

Hard to compare a MAJOR update to a device with 300 Million users to a software "patch" that affects no more than a few million.

It's not news if the number of people that care about it is less than a full percentage point of your viewership. So a few Canadian and maybe British news outlets might decided to run a story. For most of us the biggest thing about 10.2.1 is the ability to install APK's, but technically that isn't a real feature that BlackBerry is willing to officially talk about - other than to say that BlackBerry World will soon have APK Apps.

I'm glad we got it and I think it really improves the user experience if you don't mind leaching off Android. But I not disappointed or surprised that it isn't a major news story.

Rothlmfao ios 7 was garbage total garbage . There is no better word for it. Users avoided downloading it since all it would do is screw their phone or ipad. I know two people who left ios for Android because of it. Apple users pay top dollar for an outdated product. Apple does have the best marketing.

off topic...i have ipad and it is true.....the battery are much worst, search on music are eliminated, and search on email are a mess.

on topic...10.2.1 is not a major update like other poster have said....and it BB , they have less than 2% marketshare worldwide, its not important for news media to report BB minor software update, even i never see WP8 minor update being on news...its only apple and Android
