Two security researchers uncovered thousands of medical systems exposed online that are vulnerable to web attacks.

On Saturday, September 26, researchers Scott Erven and Mark Collao presented their findings at Derby Con 5.0 in a presentation entitled �Medical Devices: Pwnage and Honeypots.�

Why would BlackBerry have a fix for these other systems flaws?
They haven't released their iot platform yet so nothing to replace them I think

Not sure they have a fix per say, but the avenue for Health Care security is real.

Realize that QNX has been a popular OS for medical devices for a decade or more, so some of these devices may well be running QNX.

The point being, simply choosing one OS over another doesn't make you secure - the IMPLEMENTATION and the END USER are both critical pieces of the puzzle.

As an analogy, you can buy the strongest vault door and install it as the front door on your house, but if you still have windows all over, or have standard doors on other entrances, or leave the vault door standing open, then all of that effort and expense won't help you be secure - and it's no fault of the company who made the vault door.

Yep.

The kernel really doesn't matter (all that much). The way the other parts of the OS, as well as applications and permissions are configured, that's what matters.

Most desktop "Linuxes" are very secure, unless you run everything with root/admin rights...

Nothing will protect you from irresponsible implementation or use...

Standard careless implementation :

Open ports, services listening, no password or default password, and everything running with superuser or admin rights instead of limited, if there is such an option at all...
