I'm using the Dtek50 but miss having the button on top, anyone use any android phones that do and they recommend? Is this a rare thing, I know even the iPhone 5s I was using had it.

They all seem to have it on the side now...

Pixel, V20, Galaxy S7, iPhone 7/7+, DTEK60, all have side buttons.

I guess it's because larger phones make accessing top buttons harder.

What about the iPhone SE? It's the size of the 5s so they might have put the button on top

I agree. I didn't like it on the side on my Lumia 950. I found myself pushing it instead of a volume button, or when I picked up the phone. But couldn't find it when I needed it! LOL

Got an early gift for Christmas the Samsung S7, not a bad device but no top button. I think that due to the size of the new devices the buttons need to be at the side.

Once phones started exceeding screen sizes of 4" or so, it was much less convenient to have to reach to the top to hit the lock/unlock/power button, so manufacturers started putting them on the sides. As almost all devices are 5" or more today, they've all got side-mounted buttons, with a few exceptions (such as LG's rear-mounted buttons).

BlackBerry should put their lock button on right hand side of screen! I'm not left handed as most guys are

Iphone SE would be the first thing that comes to mind. I like having it on the top of my 5s quite a bit but again it only works since its a small phone

I might be wrong ( and it's not a new model) but I think the HTC one m8 had it on the top.

So blackberry should start a poll on crackberry before manufacturing the device asking how many of us are right or left handed,so they can put the button accordingly.

    This.

I have an old LG G2 and really like the buttons on the back. Very accessible.

The button on the top is great on my Bold 9900 and Q10, but those are small phones. I would never be able to reach a top button on a 5+ inch slab.

I also like the ability to easily reach lock button while phone is pocketed... Of course the current batch of flat panel TV monster phones don't fit in many pockets, nor hands for that matter. Lol. Consumer trends being what they are, some not distant enough future Samsung model might come equipped with a step ladder to reach a top mounted lock button... Lol.

THEN what's next? Will movie watching consumers be satisfied with any device that doesn't require permits, flags, clearance lights and escort cars to carry on public roadways?? How big is big enough?? Lol.

Couldn't be happier with my "old" lock button on top 9900 sized to fit a human hand.

Asus Zenfones have them on top. Amazing phones for the prices. You can set the top button to do what you like. They also have the Double Tap to turn On/OFF the screen.
