Just wondering if anyone has either lost or had their BB stolem and used certain features of BB protect. Wiped the device? Used the lock out w/message box to get it back or tracked it through the GPS and beat someones @ss?
I too like knowing its there... just in case, ya know. I do have it set up to automatically back up OTA once a week so I dont have to remember to do it.

I actually did have to use the remote wipe feature. My wife left her BB in a dressing room. By the time she remembered, it was gone. She had already notified the carrier, but I did the remote wipe anyway.
I had to use the gps locater on it. Worked like a charm! I knew where it was when I saw it on the gps so I didn't have to do a wipe, put a message on the screen or change the password. I'm super happy I put it on my phone. Especially since I only added it about a week prior to this.

I used it a lot in the past 9 months to back up my Torch 9810 because it broke FOUR times and had to be replaced each time!! It was nice to be able to get everything right back. The last one broke a few days ago and instead of backing it up I traded it in for the Z10. Now I can't back up the Z10 from Protect or the desktop!! Anyone know how I can do that other than buying another Torch and doing the Link?
Sometimes I leave my phone charging on my work desk. One day I went to the bathroom and it was gone when i came back. Now I suspected co-workers were up to no good as they stared waiting for me to say something but I just sat down, hopped onto the BB Protect site, had the phone make a noise, stared at them with a smile and retrieved my phone from a neighbor's desk drawer. Laughs all around. Last time they jack my phone!

My girlfriend lost her phone once. A friend borrowed her phone and misplaced it.
We used bb protect when we got home and found it in the middle of the road! Ya.. story is the friend left the phone on top of the car as we drove off lol.
I tried the gps locate function on my z10 the other day, and found that it hadn't updated for a few days, and it couldn't update then. I looked at the phone, and protect had error'd out, and couldn't start.
Just today, I looked again, and it seems to be working fine.
Protect only works on your blackberry ID, it does not work by PIN. So if your phone is wiped and the device is re-enabled with a different BB id, protect will not find your device. So passwording the device is pretty essential if you are going to rely on this for trying to recover a stolen device. It works great for finding it in a coat pocket or at the office if you left it there.
