It's starting to look like an FM Radio is going to be what turns BlackBerry around in the eyes of the media :cant-watch:
It's ridiculous that this is what tech writers are taking away from the 10.2.1 update, considering there are so many other new, great features, but it's definitely better than negative things.
It's obvious click bait. The speed and performance improvements, and the features - they are fantastic. Its unfortunate that people beat up on bb like this - but then bb haven't helped themselves. Hopefully, under Chen's leadership, this changes :)

They are always going to focus on a few clear, easy identified new features. They won't get into enhancements or bug fixes in detail as its not interesting to most readers. All in all a good, positive review. Where are all the CB conspiracy theorists?
Everyone focusing on the damn FM radio that we Z10 users didn't even get :P
Nice to see the positive articles tho!

We have to look at it from a non USA viewpoint. For Canada and most of the rest of the world, data was not unlimited on our phones, so we didn't tend to use all the music streaming apps when away from wifi. To these markets where data is at a premium, and also in the USA where unlimited data is now hard to get, something as simple as listening to a radio via the FM radio waves is significant difference between BlackBerry phones and the rest of the phones on the market.
That being said, it is surprising the carriers allowed this. This FM feature has been on BlackBerry phones in the past, but was usually only available in markets where the infrastructure and the consumer could not afford to use data to stream content.
I wouldn't even think the addition of an FM radio would be of interest to most readers, because it's hardly of interest to me (a huge BlackBerry fan) haha.
The mini review itself is fine because it does list some other new, useful features, but the headline suggests the FM radio is the major new thing.
The CB conspiracy theorists are at the grocery store. They ran out of tinfoil to make their hats. They're getting some more and will be back soon!
This is what BB's own US website has to say about 10.2.1:
BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.2.1
Optimized battery life with new monitoring options and indicators
BlackBerry Priority Hub with more ways to organize and prioritize, so you can stay focused on mission critical things.
Call management options so you can respond on your terms, even by email/BBM/text
Cost management tools to manage roaming and data usage
Groups can be created for SMS and email for more efficient broadcast communications.
Lock Screen Notifications are now actionable, so you can respond to important messages more quickly or discreetly.
Picture Password for quick unlocking
Offline Browser Reading Mode lets you save the current web page for later viewing, even if you are offline.
FM Radio does not require any network connection so can you listen to local FM stations (BlackBerry Z30, BlackBerry Q10 or BlackBerry Q5 smartphone)
So you can kind of forgive any review focusing on what BB has told them are the key improvements.
As has been mentioned elsewhere, there's no official mention by BB of the direct apk installation capability in that list. So other posters that are beating-up review sites for not mentioning apk installation might want to question why BB doesn't feel comfortable mentioning that feature.
For me, pinch to filter is best new feature on 10.2.1 :P

for some people there are alot but for others there are only a few new features that they will actually use, i went through the lis with my dad when he updated his Q10 and theres really only a few things that he will use, one being the delete from hub and server which is annoying for him as hes blind and needs his font set to 12 to be able to see and he has to scroll through the pop up in order to choose the option, a little annoying but when you have a small screen and big font what else can you do. he also likes the way you answer a call its easier to swipe your finger at the bottome of the screen then to reach up to answer or reject
