Yes, it's the old BlackBerry OS. They went with AirWatch. Such short sighted decisions as they claimed it saved them that much but at the same time they issued iphones to people.
They're so proud of saving the little amount but what the big egg on their face is the $50+ Billion that they spent on BG.

Most IT and IT Support people round the world supporting their company's mobile devices don't know of the existence of BlackBerry 10. I don't blame them for this as there is no effort from BlackBerry to get in touch with them whilst iPhone and other Android phones are so heavily advertised.

All these people know is just BES and BBOS 5 at the most. They also complain about the cost of BIS too.

I think the strategy of BlackBerry doing away with all BBOS devices and even pkb might do them good. This should have been done 2 years ago.

The irony is that they might have been happy to carry on using BBOS devices but BlackBerry refused to make them any more. So they end up losing customers that they could have kept.

Truthfully I haven't heard of the company that appears to have acquired this large account. Air Watch was it??

I know that BlackBerry purchased Good Technolgies in order to gain a better traction on the iOS management side. Rumors had it that Good wasn't doing very good financially and was under pressure. Perhaps another acquisition might be in order in the future if BlackBerry can continue to grow it's software business and become profitable. I don't fully understand the MDM business but the goal for BlackBerry is to offer the MDM solutions and all the value added services of other software features.

Sometimes taking out the completion can be the right play depending on how many staff need to be let go. If all BlackBerry does is acquire a few accounts it held previously and then needs to eat the acquisition costs, severance packages etc than it may not make sense.

We will see what the future holds!

Not everyone got iPhones as not everybody in the company had BlackBerry devices either. The BlackBerry devices that did get phased out were replaced with iPhones. The devices ranged from iPhone 5 all the way up to iPhone 6s.

A large number of devices were retired and people who didn't need one simply had theirs returned and not replaced with another device. When they had the BlackBerry devices there were a large number of people who had one but didn't need one. For example instead of one on call device for a team, every member of the team was issued a BlackBerry.

Yes, they use AirWatch at Shell. So given the new iPhones and AirWatch, I doubt they're saving any more than what they claim, but in the corporate world, it looks good on paper. Meanwhile nobody really follows up because all the executives and others got their shiny new idevice which they coveted.

I seriously doubt that.
They'll create a patch to fix it and that's that.
In the meantime Samsung innovations keep transforming the capabilities of their phones into the most versatile of mobile platforms.

Oh well thats alot of BES subscription revenue Chen has been getting through the skin of his teeth on now lost...2 million a year in 'software' sales just to break even on its loss.
