A co-worker that I haven't seen in a while dropped by my office today. We're both big BB fans and thought I would appreciate this story. He told me that he was riding his bike and found a cell phone in an Otterbox case on his trek. He didn't want to stop riding so he stuck it in his back pocket until he got home. When he examined the phone inside the case it was covered in dirt and mud. After it was cleaned up he saw that it was an 8830. Plugged it in to charge and it booted up! He was able to determine who the owner was, called him, and it turned out this guy had lost the phone back in July! We have had a very heavy rainy season this summer and this phone was still ticking. Between the Otterbox and a well built phone, the owner got a working phone back after several months of being one with nature.
That's a cool story! Imagine how pumped that guy must have been when he got that call!!
Yeah, the guy was in and out of my office so fast I didn't get a chance to ask any questions about it.
FYI - I went looking for this thread and couldn't find it. I see I posted in the wrong place by mistake. If any mods see this, please feel free to move it. Thanks.
Great story it reminds me of the old timex commercials. You know the one "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking" lol. As a matter of fact i still have mine and it still works.
That's an awesome story! It's good to know my old 8830 could withstand all that with an Otter Box, had I kept it. Masahiro- the 8830 is the World Edition BB with no camera.
