I'm not a developer and have very little knowledge about the runtime. Please pardon me if I sound naive or uninformed.

I have heard android runtime is open source and hence freely modifiable. Off late I have been thinking about my experiences with the Android apps on BB10 and these ideas are derived from that.

So here goes, please correct me if I'm wrong:
    1. Can BlackBerry modify the runtime in such a way that it can modify the apps and make them behave like the native ones? Like the back buttons can make way for the cascades and the swipe down can bring in settings instead of the 'show/hide' bar options?

    2. Can android apps be hub integrated depending upon their push features?

    3. Can the android runtime be made more invisible than it is now, such that we don't realise if the app is native or not, apart from the obvious design features?

Just few thoughts, let me know what you guys think?

Might as well install Android and add a custom UI that gives you the HUB features.... Even now they could probable do that quicker than getting the Runtime integrated to the level you are wanting (and that it needs to be if Android Apps are our future).

But there is a difference in something being possible, and something being feasible for BlackBerry. TIME, MONEY, TIME, TALENT and TIME are against them.

Precisely. Since I don't know how difficult or feasible it is for BlackBerry, I came up with this. Ultimately whatever we discuss, BlackBerry knows how much they can afford and what is the threshold.

That's for them to decide, right?

But will it take a lot of resources to implement it?

And, hub is not the only feature I love un BB10, there are a zillion more! I don't think I can ever have the same experience on any android device.

Moreover, the way the BB10 OS is designed, it still needs apps to function to an extent, in order to have a hub integration or share integration. If BlackBerry can come up with something intelligent, like converting the mobile Web pages into apps, which users can make themselves and make this process dead simple and one touch, I guess the question of android apps won't even exist!

Sure if they want to get sued by the App developers.

But nothing really is changing in terms of design.

They can atleast do it for the officially ported apps..

It's irrelevant, you start modifying other people's apps without permission and you open a legal minefield leaving aside the fact that morally and ethically it's a shady thing to do.

But nothing is being modified, the container which is open source is modified not the app...like how the navigation bar comes below every android app you open, the app has not been modified, the runtime is such...

I've thought a lot about the packaging of Web pages into apps.. and I wonder why no body is doing it since I believe BlackBerry already has the ability to run packaged html5 code..

    Anyone care to elaborate?
