Yes, it's going to happen soon.
Debuting with Blackberry Venice, we'll be seeing a completely new era of Blackberry.

    Why this form factor?
    - it will support the portrait-orientation optimized Android, which the iconic blackberry keyboard, because it's dope.

What exactly will make this android so special for us Blackberry users?
    - you see how companies launch their own skin of Android with their phones?
well, in this case, Blackberry will be stepping up it's game by preinstalling Hub, BBM, Keyboard, and all other notable applications from Blackberry Experience Suite.

That's cool, but why exactly do i need Android when BB10 is doing good for me?
-Remember how BBOS7 was all good for you? but yet they changed it to make the Next gen OS.
    That's whats happening now.
Only thing different now is you'll be offered with the availability of applications which rest of the world is enjoying.
Web-Browser alone can't handle your application needs.
    And Blackberry knows it.

Okay fine, cool. But why is Blackberry so silent about it right now?
Because you don't announce the dinner's ready unless it's on the table.

and whatever you've read above is my pure speculation.

Thanks for reading. And yes, it's going to be true.

What about security? Android apps and Google are known to mine data. In fact, Google tracks your location 24/7 (you can even look up your location history). Not to mention that Androids are vulnerable to malware, especially if they're rooted.

You need to check with your doctor if you're schizophrenic. Talking to yourself on two narrative is not healthy.

Data mining is a privacy thing, not security. It happens either way in most of apps the average user uses

As soon as blackberry officially announces an android phone, I will go buy an Android phone. From a different manufacturer.

I will then root it, customize it, and when the apk files for things like the hub app are floating around, I'll install them.

Although unlikely, since on an android device, a hub app is redundant since I already have a notification center.

I may install the keyboard though.

I'd buy the slider for the form factor. I loved my Torch.

A Nexus device would be perfect for that... Ironically a Google phone.

Yep. Because this is so not the same as the OS change from 7 to 10. This is a skinned Android, which exists elsewhere. It's not something brand new in the same sense as a brand new OS.

I have a BlackBerry because I like BB10. And I wanted a slider, running BB10. Looks like I'm Passport for the long term now.

Oh yeah, gonna go down to my carrier store and pick up a nice Huawei Ascend G7. Gorgeous device and I can even get it for free.

Much better than dropping 700+ dollars in a new Blackberry, especially when the specs are going to be the same. The OS is the same. And doesn't have that disgusting curved screen.

Which is why I believe if the Venice has to be a Android device, it would be wise to also launch it as a BlackBerry 10 device as well.

    Like what being stated;
many present BlackBerry Fateful have been awaiting a BlackBerry Flagship Device running BlackBerry 10.

And if they're looking to appeal to the Android Device Market, there are tons of Mobile Device Manufactures competing for those same buyers. What guarantee does BlackBerry have that those buyers will purchase a BlackBerry Android device over Android Manufacturers' devices they've grown accustom to.

Having the option of both Operating Systems would guard against alienating your buying faithful, while allowing them to test the market for possible new users, depending on the market demand. A possible Win/ Win market strategy.

Don't know why anyone would be shocked that BlackBerry is making an Android device. When BlackBerry 10 was being formulated BlackBerry considered going Android. It was in the cards. As BlackBerry 10 is still having developers not producing apps for the platform common sense will dictate that they will go with the android platform. I personally will NOT be getting one but for the masses it would have a better reception. Provided that marketing is done. I am sure that BlackBerry 10 will still be around but for corporate use.
