I dont get it. I am a 22 year old college student, also a loyal apple user and I just switched from the iphone to a 9700. I love flashy stuff and am a very aesthetic person, but my BB is already sucking me in way faster than my iphone ever did. The iphone loses its novelty very quickly. I keep finding out new things that my BB can do every day.
A few hours ago I noticed that it synced all of my contacts with job descriptions and profile pictures from facebook! Awesome.
I can take a picture (on the awesome camera with flash) and with the click of a button post it right to twitter or any app.
I can multi task applications.
the list goes on. The Droid might be able to do all of this stuff too, but certainly not the iphone. And I know the iphone isnt really the topic here, but it fits in the category.
yep you herd right, I think its gonna be 2.1 and the htc ui. Enjoy Android, I sure do!
Well okay i will start my account on the android website below unless i can still use the same username and password and well like really but ive seen right now screenshots of new HTC phones and that a so called HTC Legend might replace the HTC Hero in March
My point right there. I know there are a lot more people like me out there that don't pledge elegance to the RIM. You fall behind the times you will be forgotten. The old people who like Blackberry will be chasing the hot ol blue hair arond the bingo table while the younger generation will be using what they fell in love with, like I said before if Rim doesn't get in the fight today, they wont be around tomorrow. Palm gets it, they had a toe in the Brea tar pits but they are making the effort. At this point Rim has failed to do this but only time will tell.BB OS is outdated, I need to look up a quote online and my tour couldn't do it, browser all messed up. On my Droid with android 2.0 I can, so for my business its android.
Yup i agree with stoneworrior
So this is my final plan
1) Tell parents that im switching to Android
2) Upgrade 8330 that i have right now to OS 5.0
3) Wait until March of next year when the predecessor of HTC Hero named HTC Legend will come out
4) I would have to wait until my bday which is in July so how many months oh right seven months so yea i guess i will be stuck with a Blackberry but the outcome results will be marvelous
Good luck hope things go well for you.

BBs are lower maintenance in my opinion. I had an iphone 3GS and it was the best device I had ever owned. Even better than my Bold. But it took a lot of work to make use of the device. With my BB, ncer out of the box, it did everything that I needed. I never had to download any extra apps from App World. But for an iphone, unless you find the right apps, you won't feel that the device is reaching its potential. It became exhausting trying to keep up with it. I'm guessing that the Android devices are somewhere in the middle. But if you want a low maintenance smattphone, I would go with the BB.

If I was a teen I would def go android if I was on sprint. I understand wanting a device that handles email and being able to text on a QWERTY keyboard is much easier. However as said a blackberry is a bit boring and as a teen you will hate it in a month. **** I'm 30 and get bored with a phone in a month however android market place is full of different things to play with and a lot of the apps are free.
Either way the decision is ultimately yours I'd go to a sprint store and play around with a few of the devices and make the decision.

Yea but this is for the OS not just the phone
the title of this thread is "android vs. blackberry"...
Android is the OS, Android doesn't make phones... Samsung, Motorola, HTC make the phones and use an Android OS....
That is exactly what that thread was talking about. The Android [os] against the Blackberry [os]. if you read it... people are getting the "droid" confused with the "android" ... it's about the firmware....

oh well then they should change the title don't u think
so the OS 5 is already out and there isnt really many additions to it. besides bubbled sms.
the same old single alarm clock
same old main screen
same old undeletable shortcuts
same old unchangeable buttons
cant assign a shortcut to a qwerty keyboard full of buttons...
cant transfer phonebook to sim
cant browse files(oh nvm finally in OS 5 theres a basic browser)
cant install apps on the memory card
all these are very easy to fix if blackberry really wanted to improve.
i will have to say for most of people its the hardware that is attractive and keeps them from switching because in the end the phone is comfotable to use...
if only software allowed more flexibility.
since blackberry decided to jump in the typical consumer crowd not a buziness crowd they should expect a different game.
but even buzinesmen dont want to carry a phone work and a phone for weekend that is lame.
in other words the phone that does all will win the war.
Android is cool but, and this is a big but, how much do you trust Google. A couple of months ago they bought the biggest mobile advertising company for 750 millions, this week they tried to index all the info from your Facebook in the google search, hope you guys haven't missed this one, privacy options/search/unclick allow indexing.
I just find it hard to trust them.
