For the past 3 years I have been using a crappy nokia phone. My friend gave me a blackberry 8700 that was also from rogers. So i put my rogers sim that was in my nokia into the 8700. Now I dont have a data plan or anything fancy, i have something like 250 texts per month and so many talk minutes a month and thats it. My question is will I be getting charged extra somehow even if I dont use the internet on my blackberry? Also wondering if the same will apply if I get a new bold 9700 without a data plan?

Options->Mobile Network->Data Services (turn off). Turn off data there.
