I understand that the relationship with Tom Tom ended a few years ago, and no replacement was included. At the time, it was not a huge issue.

Of late, Maps has been spending a lot of time "updating route" after launching a destination. often calling for a "try again".

Is there a newer, more updated and functional NAV system application I can load on my Blackberry Classic?

You could try an older version of Google maps. I don't have it installed currently but I had like with version 6.4. It drains battery quicker than a native app but at least the maps are up to date. Others may suggest a newer version but the older you can go, the better it'll run on the Classic's runtime. Someone else mentioned that Mapquest worked well. There are a few options in the "Adapted Android Applications" Thread too. Navfree is native and I loved it back in the day but I think the open source maps are sorely dated. Not sure if anyone figured out a way to point it to a newer map set.

BB maps still works great for me though. I wonder if your GPS chip is starting to go. You could try HelloGPS (in BB World) to see if that locks you into a signal more quickly and THEN run your map app.

Kind of a nightmare to use in my experience, especially on the go when you're frantically trying to get directions. but yes another option that gives updated maps and doesn't require an extra app. it doesn't scale very well on a smaller screen and I found it to be really unresponsive whereas the older apk was a little snappier (relatively speaking). Anyways, good for one to have options to try out to see what works for one.

Wisepilot in BBW works fine, if you want full navigation you need to pay a fee about 4 USD for one year. The inapp payment works.

Another alternative is an older Osmand from apkmirror. I found one from 2017, I think, only 39 MB and it works snappy. 10 free downloads. The older one in BBW is malfunctioning now. Can't do searches.

I'm still using the native Maps on my Passport as it still works for me. Another that works fine is Magic Earth (either from Amazon app store or XcrazyS - https://forums.crackberry.com/blackb...ricks-1173929/ ). Magic Earth works well on Passport but I'm not sure if it works that well on Classic.

Another possibility is OsmAnd as previously mentioned - I have used the version from F-Droid in the past, but again on the higher powered Passport - https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.osmand.plus/

Maps.me and Magic Earth use the same maps as OsmAnd - newer version runs poorly on the Classic but the one on BB World runs ok. Google Maps was probably the best for me, Magic Earth for online.

Sounds like native maps don't work because GPS satellites changed something and the Classic wasn't updated for it. The maps still load and find stuff but never get you directions.
