Didn't Netflix also get kicked off of the NASDAQ 100?
It should come up with a porn subscription too. $10/month.

"Netflix spends more on licensing in a year than RIM has cash.'

They probably spend more on licensing in a year than THEY have in cash, too.

lol RIM needs netflix hilarious.Netflix is a sinking ship waiting to happen.Netflix is nothing but another overhyped service in US its irrelevant anywhere else. These threads are tiresome is there not a universal thread for this app ********.I got 50 and 42 inch HD tvs in my house going down to 4-5 inch to watch a movie on the go is hilarious. Its even more comical when alot of consumers drive cars. There's plenty ways to watch movies outside netflix considering cyborg fans like freebies I find it hard to believe these guys would fork out $8 a month when they dont spend on apps.

Live tv and sport streaming far more betetr investment than wasting time on netflix.RIM did fine without netflix before that wont change if this one app is not available. There's more than 1 player offering movie streaming RIM wont leave it to just Netflix.

Netflix is worth it for people such as myself. I find it hard to justify paying 100+ bucks a month for cable/satellite considering I only watch 12-16 hrs of TV a week. Netflix +nba package+MLB package= heaven for me.

The only thing more tiresome than these threads is the argument that "It's lame because I don't want it..."

does the Android port work on the PlayBook (if you know)?
I just access PlayOn through the browser. Works great even outside of my home LAN. Besides giving you access to NetFlix and hulu, it also shows your local pics and vids and there's also a bunch of channels you can access directly. And it's not just for the PlayBook. I can access this thru Roku, PS3, PC etc.

There was a thread a while back that listed new domain names RIM had bought and IIRC, there was some playon addresses in there. Maybe they will build the PlayOn app tech into Desktop Manager. That would be handy.

Laughable and utterly unrealistic. Netflix spends more on licensing in a year than RIM has cash.

If you have Apple or Amazon money, you can invest in building your own content ecosystem as a way to sell additional devices. If you're a cash weak company coming to a space 7 years after everyone else, you don't focus your energy on an area that is at odds with your core competency.

That's why RIM has partners with others for its media stores. Even Google has struggled to get its rental and download store competive with the likes of Apple, Microsoft, Sony and Amazon -- mostly because they waited so long.

More over, creating a subscription streaming business, in addition to costing billions that RIM doesn't have (seriously, Netflix spends BILLIONS licensing content each year), makes no sense if you're a cell phone company. Amazon, Apple, Google and Microsoft have much more diversified revenue streams.

If RIM can't convince Netflix to support BB10, the solution isn't to build a Netflix competitor, it's to pay Netflx to make the app and pay for any and all customer support costs (because that's the real reason Netflix won't just make an app -- it needs to make sure the number of potential customers is worth the cost of adding another platform to the support ecosystem. That's what costs money.)
Wait and see on Jan 30th.... I think you will be surprised.

BlackBerry World will have music and movies available for purchase/rent at launch for BB10.

What makes Netlflix "special" is it's cheap (only $8 a month) for unlimited streaming. No need to download the file (which is how BlackBerry World movie store front will work).
I agree that the BB store will probably not offer streaming.
