Random thought... did you try Unicode symbols found in any regular font?
From your PC on Windows press Start > Run > Type "charmap" without the quotes > OK. A screen will popup with different characters, choose Arial or Times New Roman for the font (though nothing special like Wingdings) and scroll down the available options to find ones you like. Use the function to select symbols you like and copy these into an e-mail. Send it to your BlackBerry and pray.
In North America we use a 7bit character map for SMS. That means a serious limitation on what you can send. Here we are really limited by the phone companies, go to Asia and they can send an entire conversation in Chinese whereas we are stuck with a couple of brief sentences and can't even spell properly.
Ah, correct. Radius you're right on that one. I wonder what happens if you enable 8bit encoding for SMS via the Engineering Screen... Also a random thought.
That being said, you should be able to copy any character from that list of sets and use it on your BB.
Just use autotext on your phone to set the character display string.
