My buddies over at Themes4BB got some insider info that the BlackBerry Tour will be coming to Sprint some time in November or December of this year, with the model number 9650!
Here are the known specs (so far):
* Wifi
* Optical Trackball
* 3G where available
* 3.2-MP auto-focus camera with geo-tagging functionality easily identify where you took your pics.
* MicroSD card slot supports up to 16 GB 32GB (thanks @n8d!) images, MP3s and apps are always at hand
* 5.0 OS
Not sure if this is meant to be a replacement or in addition to the Tour 9630 yet
i've been holding off on a Tour upgrade as they refine their production and we dont have so many quirky Tours being sold. I'd certainly wait longer if the rumors of nov/dec have any merit.
hope to hear more soon.
question.. is the trackball often referred to as "optical trackball"? when i read that part it seemed the possibility exists that it was an error and meant to say trackpad! i hope so.
I'm happy with my Tour but if this is true there are going to be some angry people out there.
I agree with Massacre. It's one thing to come out with a new model a year to a year and a half later, but it's another thing to come out only a few months later with a model that has more (enhanced) features. This would be an extremely bold and disrespectful gesture towards all of RIMs loyal followers.
I don't get why people would be mad, we knew that a WiFi version would be coming out BEFORE the Tour 9630 was even released. And we knew the 9650 would come SOON after the 9630 release. People should have waited instead of getting the 9630.

the tour has a normal track ball like all the previous bberry's sans the bold and the storm. from what I've read and seen
i doubt its gonna come out that soon. it took so frikkin long to come out with the 9630 or even the 8350i you think theyre gonna all of a sudden get a stroke of clarity and actually give ppl what they want ??? ahahhahahah.

I agree but there are those who don't keep up with Blackberry news. Then again if someone really wanted WiFi they shouldn't have purchased the Tour.
I have the 9630. Don't miss the WiFi since I have unlimited data and the EVDO for Sprint is superfast. If I get crazy and decide that I want the 9650, I'll upgrade one of my other lines to the new phone. No big.
sounds no different from tour with inclusion of wifi. i dont believe it is worth shelling out any extra money. everyone is using phone now and living fine so why buy a new one.
SilverLight98, do you have the bb launcher for blackberryOS or do you go to it from your bb browser, or from computer? The reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to get the bb launcher but can't find it. On the page it says go to GetLauncher.blackberryOS.com but it doesn't take you to download it. If you know how to get it please let me know. Thanks!

I thought the Tour 9630 was going to be the last BB with the trackball.Starting with the Gemini 8520 all future devices were going to have the trackpad.A Tour 9650 w/optical trackpad & WiFi? You Betcha!
Like said above, it will probably be an Iden+Wifi Phone like the 8350... Verizon will probably be the 9690...
I really don't think they'd make another IDen device so quickly. I mean look at the gap between the 8703i and the 8350i. And now with that new PushToTalk program you can use on any phone? Yeah I don't think we'll see another iDen device for awhile.
The tour 9650 will most likely be a NEXTEL iDen device rather than a Sprint CDMA/GSM world phone.
Eh, that sounds a little *too* reasonable for my tastes! Given the xx50 suffix, you may have a point there. Isn't that like the 8350? Dang, and I was thinking this might push me over the edge to get the Tour.
Hey guys...the 50 suffix means that it has Wi-fi not that it's an iDen device. The i at the end denotes it is an iDen device.
Where do you get that information from? Since there are no WiFi BBs on Sprint or Verizon yet, and since not all WiFi BBs on AT&T have the xx50 suffix (e.g. Bold), why come to this conclusion now?
There is a Wifi blackberry on Sprint. It's the 8350i. And I haven't come to the conclusion. Other members of Crackberry have said the same thing. Read the Blackberry Aries on Sprint 11/1 thread.
Well, the 8350i is also an iDen phone (yes, I notice the "i" suffix) so it doesn't seem like the best candidate to prove that xx50 means WiFi.
And I have been following the Aries on Sprint 11/1 thread but I see no reference to the xx50 suffix there. Why are you directing me to that thread? If anything, isn't the consensus that the CDMA Aries will be the 8530, which also does not support the idea that xx50 means WiFi?
