900 LEDs for Nothing Phone (1)'s back vs a 35 keys PKB.
- If the main highlight of the Nothing phone (1) is it's more than 900 notification LEDs at the back that make up for its Glyph Interface pattern on the back, an effort to make it unique from the many out there, can't 35 functional keys on the phone's front, beautifully designed with tactility really be made to appeals to current tech market ideals in any way shape or form?bh7171 likes this.06-27-22 11:25 PMLike 1

- Folks that like visual notifications.... the Glyph interface does sound interesting in a nerdy sort of way.
And folks that are in the habit of putting their phone down face first on a surface.... I tend to avoid that myself.
Interesting little phone that has captured some attention... still remember all the hype that the Hydrogen One Holographic phone created a few years ago, and then there was Andy Rubin's Essential phone. Carl Pei did a great job with helping Oppo get into the western market with the OnePlus brand and it's discounted flagships...Laura Knotek likes this.06-28-22 08:54 AMLike 1 -
- Probably won’t prove popular in that it’ll move a bazillion units, it’s just a little extra flair to get people to notice there’s a new player. Carl Pei is no dummy when it comes to getting a startup off the ground, so we’ll see how this goes.Laura Knotek likes this.06-28-22 08:13 PMLike 1

With OnePlus he had the backing of BBK and a market where "value flagships" didn't really exist. But offering good value was key to OnePlus sucess. I don't know if BBK is behind his new "start up"... but not sure gimmicks are something to base a company on.
At this point even OnePlus is starting to fade due to we have reached a point were even entry level phone can offer pretty good performance and value.06-29-22 07:20 AMLike 0 - Seems like TCL did the same thing a few years ago on the back of one of their phones... in color. More recently the TCL 10L had edge lighting for notifications.

Maybe a few people looking to try something “new” will get it but they first need to be on the invite system (guess it’s 2014 all over again, lol!).
Also if I heard correctly this Nothing Phone will not be sold in the USA, at least initially?
Think it has to do with 5G bands or something.
This feels like the Essential Phone and OnePlus One all over again, we have seen a lot of this before.
Are people truly salivating? I’ve seen YouTubers who are somewhat excited but the techies in forums don’t seem very excited, the Nothing Phone is launching with an outdated SoC and doesn’t seem to have much going for it outside of the LEDs.Laura Knotek likes this.06-30-22 01:28 AMLike 1 - In all honesty I doubt the Nothing (1) Phone is going to sell a lot, there doesn’t seem to be anything outside of the LEDs that make this an attractive product. Samsung users will probably mostly stick with Samsung and Apple users will probably mostly stick with Apple. Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo are also becoming solid players globally.

The LEDs aren't even RGB
It's almost like having a PKB phone without enter, shift, and alt keys lolTsepz_GP likes this.06-30-22 06:09 AMLike 1 - In all honesty I doubt the Nothing (1) Phone is going to sell a lot, there doesn’t seem to be anything outside of the LEDs that make this an attractive product.
