So this is something that no one seems to have any info on. Does the 8930 exist? Will it be released?

The leaked roadmap said it was going to be released, but it also said that a 9030 would be released.

My hunch is that 8930+9030=9630 and that we will never see an 8930. I hope I'm wrong, but the last we've heard anything about his is Feb.

Does anyone have any info about this?

W/ the 8530 it's kind of looking doubtful that we'll see a 8930. I think the 8530 will replace the 8330. They will now have a high and low end blackberry.

Sadly I must agree with your post. I would love to see a 8930 myself, but I do not believe its going to happen.

Maybe the 8530 to Verizon and the 8930 to Sprint?

Look up this thread,Verizon FiOS Mobile TV Central - Storm Support and... Curve 2?, (I couldn't figure out how to link to it, might be my post count) in the News & Rumors forum.

Someone at Verizon used a Curve2 image and mentioned it was coming soon as an option to manage your FIOS DVR.

So it could be out there, just further away release-wise.

I saw that but I think someone in the marketing department just grabbed the wrong image.

I really don't think that we are going to see an 8930 now. It actually doesn't make any sense anymore. The 9630 is a mid-high level device and the 8530 is low end.

If anything it would be an 8900 but running EVDO rev0 instead of revA like the Tour...

I don't think that there will be a CDMA version of the 8900

I couldn't imagine them putting a EVDO rev 0 radio in any new product, the cost savings wouldn't be enough to bother I wouldn't think. Even Rev 0 runs within the speed ratings of 3G which made the 8330 technically a 3G device. This means an 8930 would also be technically 3G. Anyway since the 8900 has wifi, wouldn't the CDMA equivalent be a 8950?

I just don't know if the cost savings of leaving out the GSM radio would make the 89xx CDMA worthwhile to produce since the Tour has been released. My best, completely uninformed guess, is they killed off the 89xx CDMA when they decided to come out with a wifi enabled Tour.

With the Tour (being even so slightly larger than the 8330) and the new curve 85xx series...I can't see them making a CDMA 8900. I can't really see them doing anything further with the 8900 series.

The Jupiter(8930) was supposed to have EVDO Rev.0.It was supposed to be a step down from the Tour and replace the 8330.From what I've read the Aries 85xx will fill the role which was meant for the Jupiter, lest with Verizon.

This is interesting since the 8900 is the high end curve with 3G and the 8520 is the low end curve lacking 3G.

On CDMA networks all blackberries are 3G regardless so would Verizon carry the 8530 and the 8930??????

    Great question to speculate on.

I started this thread, I'll end it because this really isn't going anywhere.

The 8930 is not coming for sure now that the 8530 has been announced. End of story. Nothing else to say on this. Please close the thread.

It maybe a CDMA version if a 8930 came out; however, I really don't think this will happen. Although, the 8520 is coming to Verizon, so it might.
