Can someone smarter than me please explain the differences in these upcoming CDMA devices. From what I have read they both have a trackpad and wifi. What about memory, screen resolution, data speed, size?
I have had enough of my storm and long for a physical keyboard. I like the Tour, but I am going to hold out for wifi.
got it, thanks. The only thing it doesn't clarify for me is network speed. When the 8520 moves from GSM to CDMA does it translate to 1VEX? Forgive me if I am using the network terminology incorrectly. Thanks

Yeah the 8530 will be a 3G BlackBerry, EVDO rev. 0 - not the faster, EVDO rev. A, like the Tour/Storm. But yes, it's still considered a 3G device.
But I believe Verizon is phasing out the "1XEV" label on their new phones and non-smartphones so you'll most likely see "3G" on it.
No one who knows for sure is saying anything. Right now it is expected to come out either Q1 or Q2 of next year (2010). Once again, this is mostly speculation based on information leaks here and there. If you would like more info on where these dates come from I can provide that.

Thank you for any help
The tour is gonna have pretty much everything better under the hood, with wifi and a bigger camera. The 8530 will have the same specs under the hood as the 8520. The 8530 will be coming out sometime this year, but the tour probably won't b out until 2010. But, don't base your decision on wifi because it really won't help that much.
How close will the essex be to the 9700? Will it be the cdma's 9700?
Yes basically. It will be fairly close as far as functionality goes. Some of the specs such as screen size and app mem will be the same. The essex may have a better camera. Processor speed will be comparable. The essex may not look like the 9700 though.
They will be quite similar, but they are different devices with different internals.

They will both have Track pads and they are both world phones. Personally I choose Essex because of looks over Curve.... It would be so awesome to have Essex around the holidays....
the 8530 will be just like 8520 which means it will not have a camera flash. a 2mp camera and no gps capability.
essex will blow it away if the 8530 will be the 8520 in cdma mode.
I was wondering about that.
I know the 8520 doesn't have GPS but seeing as how the 83** GSM Curves and CDMA Curves differ, I could see Verizon's 8530 having GPS.
I also understand that if it where to have GPS as well as wifi that it should be an 8550.
I don't recall seeing it posted anywhere that we will definitely see an 8530 apposed to an 8550 (which I could have missed, please correct me if I am wrong there).
The Essex apparently will also have a new technique for the camera. Liquid lens(??) so it will sort of work like your eye does. Suppose to be a huge improvement..
Where did you read that? I read on Salomondrin said the dakota I believe will have the liquid lense not the essex. However if it does that would be fantastic.
