The trackball would not track left so I put a very small amount of saliva ( I admit it) on my finger to clean the ball. It worked but now the light goes on intermittently. What can - do to fix it??? Thank you. Ps. I bought the curve from someone on ebay and it is supposedly barely used.

There is an ambient light sensor on your BB. It is located where the LED light is. If you are in a room that is lit well enough then the keypad does not light. Try covering up the LED status light with your finger for a couple of seconds. Your keypad and trackball light should come on.
As far as the trackball not tracking left. You may have already fixed it. It's a lot like the old computer mice, they pick up dirt, lint, oil from your hands. Best thing is to always have clean hands when using your phone. I take mine out occasionally and spray some canned air inside. If it does become a problem though you can order a new trackball assembly from www.cnn.cn

- I believe you are right and perhaps - never noticed this before but now that you mention it I see when I do block the sensor,the light comes�axk on. - am a bit embarrassed now.
