Hey im a new user of Blackberry. Just bought this phone about an hour ago from some guy off of Craigslist. Everythign seems to be working fine. I think the problem is that I have a BOOST SIM card in it and NOT a NEXTEL. I have done some researching and other things. Ive heard I can download a MINI OPERA web browser onto my phone but im not sure how to really do that either. He did give me the DATA CABLE but i have no software for my computer. PLEASE HELP. Also i cant figure out how to send a text message. Does that have anything to do with me having the BOOST SIM CARD in it? PLEASE HELP!!

Ok. Do you have a data plan? I assume not. Also, by data cable, I assume you mean usb cable. And is the device unlocked?

Yes USB cord thats what i have. And its boost mobile. In my other phone for boost i could get on the internet just fine. And if i put the SIM into any other nextel phones I can use the internet. Im really confused

You need a data plan for the internet on blackberry devices. And I'm sure you'll need to unlock the phone before you can use it on boost's network, although I have never heard of boost and am unfamiliar with it.

You have never heard of boost? It is nextels version of PREPAID. Everything works fine besides the internet. I can make calls. And everything else but i cant get on the internet. And I just checked my plan out. I do have unlimited internet access. There is no Browser option on my phone at all. THe icon is not even there

Unlimited internet is not the same as a data plan.

And nope, never heard of boost!

if yes try

options--->advanced options-->host routing tables--->menu button-->register

if you dont have a bb plan then time to get one

plan is through Boost. To register the host routing table there would

ya I am just assuming he doesnt have a bb plan thats where my if statement came into play :)


also I dont think prepaid offers a bb plan so time to get on a real plan

I have read other places where people have boost mobile and still can get on the internet with this same phone. They just had to download opera mini or some other phone browser. Im not sure how to do that either

Also, I had the 7100 and I don't think you can download Mini Opera on it.

once thats done download device manager from

Hmm. Well how would i go about even trying to download a Browser from my computer to the phone? Maybe i can figure it out from there. How do I do that? I have Opera MINI downloaded already and i have a USB cable. WHen i plug in the cable it says device recognized but i have no other software. DO i need more software

Yes you also need to download and install the Operating System of the phone
onto your PC also. And that may be difficult to find.
