EDIT : WARNING these stats reflects web usage (V.S ownership). So that the title should be something like : The 7" tablet web traffic competition (if a mod can do the change ...)

Full article is about a newly introduced "heretic" form factor tablet, but there are other forums on mobile nations for that
But if you want to read it full (and for due source), here it is on Forbe's : The iPad Mini's Competition - Forbes

Chitika is about to release new figures on the market share in this space [7" tablets], but the stats don’t provide much insight into the answer. After analyzing a sample of tens of millions of online ad impressions from its network between October 12th and October 18th, it came to the conclusion that no one tablet dominated this form factor (sorry Amazon).

“It’s evident that this is a close market segment with no device being the clear leader,” Chitika says in its report. “Despite healthy sales numbers being reported by all these top players, not one tablet has been able to dominate the space when it comes to usage – an aspect that can help drive developer activity for applications, which contributes to a more robust user experience.”

It estimates that the Amazon Kindle Fire has a 12.7% share of the market; the Blackberry Playbook, 16.5%; Google Nexus 7, 18.5%; Samsung Galaxy 7, 21.5%; and the Barnes & Noble Nook, 21.7%.
In that particular form factor, PB is doing pretty well.
I personally thanks appl for making it even more popular.

Chitika thinks–along with everyone else–that the iPad Mini will make broad inroads in the 7.x-inch tablet market space. But how much remains to be seen—most of these other tablets price out at $199 or less.
And this (the price) will also be a very important point for RIM, once BB10 is aboard.

EDIT(2) : Found this graph in the original study you can find here : Tablet Market Share Report: Nexus 7 Usage Increases 135% since July | Chitika Insights
So we're talking about internet connected tablets (and used to browse web sites with Chitika ads) - this might explain some "strange" figures ?)

Well those stats are pretty useless...Kindle fire sold about 5 million in its first quarter. Playbook hasn't sold 1/2 that yet. So stats are already skewed out of proportion. Ad impressions are not a very good way of measuring tablet popularity. Unfortunately that's all we really have since most manufacturers don't report accurate sales numbers.

See Zdnet's take about it ... and sorry for being *a little* misleading.

Makes more sense that way. I'm wondering if the Silk browser actually cooperates with their analytics though.
