on the mobile hotspot streaming audio and hitting websites doesn't use much data. video, however, is another story. i use the mobile hotspot for the web all the time and you can surf tons and not go over.
for all my audio streaming, i use the phone...no point in listening to music on a laptop when i can BT thru the car.
i watch youtube videos on the hotspot sometimes and you can get away with that...but watching 30 minute tv shows or movies will eat up data fast if you are connecting your laptop thru the hotspot.
with wifi everywhere, the mobile hotspot of 2GB's is a perfect supplement to fill in the gaps.
and seriously, its very cool. but BB needs a 4G phone. by the end of the year 4G will be in all the big cities and BB probably won't even have a device out with 4G.

Where I live will be lucky to have 4g in 2015. Yeah I tether my phone all most every day but mostly just surfing, chat rooms, IMing etc. and haven't ever gone over 1.2gb.

if you have 3g now, 4g is supposed to be in all 3g markets by the end of 2013
-
Even USCellular? I haven't heard any news about their 4g.
-
i doubt this info is true

Just read a review of the Droid 3. Guess what - no 4G.
