3 Diffrent Blackberry Models in less then a year
Here is my tail of my Blackberry addiction:
November 2007 I go into my local Verizon store and started browsing the smartphones, and I spot the Blackberry 8130 (pearl). I really like the small form factor. I decide to give it a try (with Verizions 30 day bring it back policy I figured what do I have to lose?)Excellent decision. I was unaware of all the really cool things a Blackberry could do. I have to say up to this time I never had a smartphone. In fact my cell phones were pretty basic.
For the next several months I explored the features and was very happy with my decision. In May 2008 my company sent me to Dublin Ireland for business. I figured Id be able to use my 8130 Pearl in DublinWRONG! Its the whole CDMA vs GSM thing. So for a week I was without my precious Blackberry (enter withdrawal symptoms here). When I returned to the US I decided I would never again be without my Blackberry. I went on ebay and found a used 8830 World Edition (for less the $100.00 including shipping). So when my next overseas trip (London) came up in July I was prepared. I called Verizon and signed up for the Occasional Global Traveler program transferred all my data from my Pearl to the World Edition and headed for the UK. Everything was great I had my phone and data and I installed WorldMate Live (BTW..a great program). It was a great trip. All the information I ever wanted/needed/desired right at my finger tips.
Here comes the bad part; When I returned to the states I switched back to my Pearl. But, I had gotten hooked on the FULL KEYBOARD I just couldnt get use to the suretype again and the screen seemed so small. So I switched back to the World Edition again. But, I missed the camera and the voice recording and some of the other features that the Pearl has.
So last week I went and got a 8330 (Curve). Although not as small as the Pearl it does have the full keyboard and the screen, even thought the Curve is smaller than the World Edition the screen seems larger (it might be my imagination) Plus it has all the other features Ive grown to rely upon. I still have my 8830WE waiting for the next Overseas trip (in October).
To date, Ive acquired three different Blackberry models in less than a year. So, I guess my addition is complete and unconditionalIM HOOKED. No need for a 12 step program or an intervention. I am happy in my obsession. Ill just sit in the corner and assume the Blackberry prayer position while humming softly to myself.
Sorry for the length, just wanted to get this off my chest
