    3G is 3.6mbps
    3.5g is 7.2mbps

if you are a 3g user, you will realise that you are getting no where near that speed. It is like water trickling through a large pipe.

if you are a 3.5g user, you will also realise that your speed is also no where near 7.2mbps.

so a carrier introducing 3.5g is like replacing a large pipe with a larger pipe hoping that the water/data will flow through it more quickly.

is my analogy correct or am i completely missing the point.
    Thoughts?

    really? that's cool.
I know that the increase in speed of the iphone3g and the 3gs is not due to the network but due to firmware, more ram and better resource management....

can any iphone 3gs users share some light?

Basically what it comes down to is an increase in speed without the necessity to upgrade your hardware.

The bandwidth has gone up but has the actual internet speed gone up too?

It does make a difference but not huge. maybe 500kbps more real world.

i thought so. But then did they NEED the extra bandwidth to increase the speed by 500kbps? not likely...

    Just marketing hype...

i doubt that the real world speed of 3.5G is nowhere near 3mbps let alone 7.2mbps
