It's sad, but it's true. The Olympics will be showcasing Samsung as a major corporate sponsor. Tons of other sponsors are lining up with their Olympic Apps. General Mills Canada one of the largest cereal manufactures in the world is advertising an Olympic app... Available only for iOS and Android) I know the fanboys are going to scream from the top of Mt. Olympus, that BlackBerry can use Android apps... It's not the same thing. This occurred to me this morning when I was eating my Cheerios from a new Augmented Reality Box and was reading the back of the box... iOS and Android... #CheerforGold #GoCanadaGo

It's easy to say that BlackBerry missed out on this massive marketing opportunity, but marketing isn't their strong point, and wouldn't have the resources to pull this off...

Quite a stretch that it will 'prove' anything doesn't exist. Windows Phone isn't mentioned, nor is Bugs Bunny cartoons. It is just a missed opportunity, not the end of the world.

There have been many major sporting events that have granted complete support to one company whilst totally excluding another.
Sell Coke at venues but no Pepsi. Pay by card if you have mastercard but visa not accepted. This is common.
It does not seem to be the case with Samsung and Sochi. I mean Sochi have developed a really slick BlackBerry 10 app to follow the games. Its not a case they only made an Android or Samsung specific app.

There is nothing for BlackBerry to market, so why waste the dollars?

Majority of the people here in the Philippines don't care about winter sports. Winter Olympics is not the world and BlackBerry does exist here.

Olympic athletes are required to cover up the Apple logos on their iPhones and iPads because Samsung is the official sponsor. Athletes can be sanctioned for showing competitive logos.

Regarding the missed opportunity for Blackberry, the mass consumer campaigns aren't going to be of much use if your devices aren't being offered by the carriers.

Personally, it's a good thing when a company can afford to sponsor the games. If Samsung is that company this season, then ride the A train and enjoy the scenery.

Dear OP, Canada isn't the whole world. What you're stating is just Canadian advertising, not global advertising.
