So it looks like that january 19th 2019 will be 20 years anniversary of RIM releasing their first blackberry device. Is blackberry mobile (TCL) planning to release something juicy and celebrate this mark?

No. And '20 years' is all depending on how you look at it I suppose... RIM has been pushing out devices since 1996. Arguably, the 20 year point marked their exit from hardware. 2016 is when Chen declared hardware from BlackBerry specifically as 'dead'. But you can write the story however you wish.. 22 years of hardware or 20 years of BlackBerry.

I think it's the 20th anniversary of the "BlackBerry " device launch.

RIM has been around since the 80's and developed a lot of other products and services.

Either way, wow does time ever fly. I remember being 13 or 14 and all the older business guys had these BlackBerry devices in the early 2000s. It was truly revolutionary.

First time I heard about a BlackBerry was on 9/11.

They talked about how all the people in the Twin Towers were sending messages on their blackberries. I had no idea what they were talking about.

It seems crazy that nobody even thinks about carrying a BlackBerry. I know the key 1 and key 2 have been popular, but nothing like the glory years of BlackBerry.

Even among those of us crazy enough to still believe the ranks are Getting Thinner.

I had no idea Blackberry had such a long history. I guess it continues just in a different manner and I wish them the best.
