i suggest going into the apps via that storage page and delete the data/image cache manually if applicable. i just did on a bunch of android and bb10 apps alike and freed up about a gig or more.
Thanks, i'm going to try that.

Sounds like a good plan maybe he did an OTA upgrade and some old files were left behind taking up excess space.
    Yup, ive updated OTA.

I never use non destructive updates, for me they always clog up my internal storage as autoloader is much cleaner. Like others have said, Link is better than OTA.

I personally feel that android apps are a big problem with their directories. If you're installing and uninstalling DROID apps they leave a lot of junk behind. File manager in:
Dev/Misc/Android, is always cluttered with directories of apps that had been unintalled. That's why when an android app that I actually use and the app version "plays nice" with the android layer, I use Lucky Patcher to backup the APK's and keep them in a folder on my SD for when I've done a destructive update, and have to rebuild everything. This way I only have apps that I actually use and working fine = less clutter.

Side note, I always use 'APK Permission Remover' android app to remove 'run at startup' permission on most android apps to stop them starting up in the background and eating battery .

When an android app is installed can all the apks in Downloads and I see elsewhere be safely deleted?
How can we keep our devices free from unnecessary clutter?

Yes, you can delete them all. Although I usually move them to the SD card in case an update breaks them, and I need to revert.

OK cool, thanks. Good to know.
I do reasonably frequent backups, so in the past when I got a bad upgrade for an app, I just uninstall, reboot and selectively restore that app from the backup. I still think I'll follow your example and move to SD though.

320 Apps... installed on your device??

    1st... WHY?

    2nd... HOW?

They would mostly have to be Web shortcuts....

But again, it just depends on what you are installing..... Most of the big games today are 200 - 600 MB, Modern Combat 4 is 1GB all on it's own.

Then there are a number of apps that once you start using them, the download additional data.... like downloading books, images or music into "their" database and not to your documents. Yes you could clean out your libary and delete stuff... but why should you have to do that?

Some of you are fine with 16 GB... I get that, and I understand why that is. Just not sure why some can't understand that for others 13 GB (all that is usable) is too limiting?

Enough storage left... I don't use many apps. For instance... I use Facebook via browser.

I've realized that my next phone should be 32 GB at least. There's always an update specially Clash of Clans, Spotify, Instagram that this apps gets bigger and bigger which eats up my memory. Of course I have to delete the other apps cause these are my fave apps and game. I believe there will come a time that I have to delete this CB app and just go to website version of CB just to have space. It sucks really. Having a 32GB sd memory doesnt help either.

I as well have 16 gig phone with 32 gig memory card, but I find that is more than sufficient. What. I do I save media etc to the memory card that free up tons of space. Videos esp takes memory like no bodies business. Just back up on link and delete the ones ur not gonna go through or look at often. And sometimes it's a software issue that give you that false notification, that happened to me last year if memory serves. Restore the software and reload, see if it helps and check your settings in memory opts.

Go into crackberry go into settings and the cache

Clearing it will remove 300mb from your phone it would be worth it.

And a phone wipe clears the phone and reloads your current OS it's the same as re-installing an OS basically.

Just do a security wipe if you want to clear the phone off everything but make sure you backup on link and know your blackberry ID it's in settings
