That sucks. I upgraded less than 30 days ago. I wonder if there's a way to get the 100$ credit.

That IS the trade-up amount. Actually it's "up to $100."

I was much, much better off -- to almost 300% worth -- selling my old 9800 on eBay rather than giving it to RIM for a lousy $100.

That's odd because if I use the Trade Up calculator it says I get $160 for my Torch 9800. I thought if I got $260 it would be worth it.

So do you have to give them your old BlackBerry?

EDIT: Nevermind, you Do have to send them your old phone. I'm giving my old 9700 to my Teenage son.

I'm waiting on my new Torch 9850 arrival and got a certificate for $20 on my old Storm1. Every bit helps.

Yeah, you're right -- it really should say "up to $160." Still, you're much better off selling on eBay. I sold mine there for just under $300 at the end of August.

Yeah it's giving my $50 for my 8900 Curve. E-bay would be better, I think.

i was quoted $100 for my blackberry 9700. some people are selling for a little more in my area craigslist, others for less. on ebay the auctions about the end are anywhere from 78 to 112, so I thought a guaranteed $100 would be nice. plus I got burned one time when I tried to sell my used HTC Touch Pro, so I didn't want that to happen again.

I just checked my status today, and it said "Your trade-in was received on 01/09/2012 and inspected on 01/09/2012. Your inspection remarks are as follows: Your phone has : Passed power up tests, no screen damage, no liquid damage, no hinge damage, no proof of purchase. Your total refund will be determined within a week." I have no idea why it says no proof of purchase. I cut off the actual barcode from the box of my 9810 that I got from at&t, so I don't know what else they would have wanted. I'm gonna be mad if it's screwed me over. I could have done something else with that phone

of course, NO WHERE does it say that on the FAQ at the website, nor does it say that on the generated shipping label. the FAQ says
"A valid proof of purchase: Must include a legible IMEI, ESN or MEID number (serial number) of the new BlackBerry smartphone purchased."
. The instructions on the shipping receipt said
Instructions: 1. Include the used phone, this shipping receipt and a valid proof of purchase (copy of UPC code from the side of the box [emphasis added] or a copy of the invoice or receipt, with the IMEI, ESN or MEID number included and legible in either case) of your new BlackBerry smartphone.
i gave them the actual upc code from the side of the box. it is absolutely unacceptable to provide detailed instructions, have customers follow them, only to then require more information/artifacts than were said to be required after the fact. of course, i no longer have the printed slip that was in the box from at&t. excuse me if i'm a little 8utt-hurt over this one
