Hmm. One can view this as a interestingly timed and targeted leap at an opportunity to move less popular handsets.

It is really dumb not to include the Z30. I have no idea why they would do something that dumb but I'll still use it to get one of the kids the q5 I had already planned to get him.

Not "completely" if you want to buy one of the three offered.

Sure. What this offer is, is essentially an attempt to ditch the insane z10 inventory to people who still have OS7 devices. It's not truly an offer to the BlackBerry fans, just an attempt to unload inventory. Any BB fans bought the z10 already or the q10 and they bought each of those models specifically because it was the one they wanted either for touch or keyboard. So, there's not an actual incentive to upgrade the "loyal" here.

    That's very subjective.
    I, for one, prefer Z10 to Z30.
I tried to switch to Z30 for its larger battery but couldn't get over its large size / weight and got back to Z10.

Z30 sells by itself that's why they don't actively promote it.

Don't amazon and eBay already have all those devices for $100 or more off the shopblackberry price? I wonder if they know how e-commerce works...

Sad that BlackBerry will lose another $100 per device sold, with no way to recoup the loss.

Sad that things have gotten to the point where carriers don't respect BlackBerry.

Sad that things have gotten to the point where BlackBerry can't afford to do business, the way business is done. BlackBerry doesn't have a product that people are buying in the store, they sure aren't going to go looking for it on line.

Yes this is a great opportunity if you can use a GSM phone, so take advantage of it while you can.
They are doing it for the Z10 (written down), Q10 and Q5 (too expensive to begin with), so yes they are "losing" that money, but they will likely sell more phones. People are all about the sub-$200 Z3, but other than a bigger screen, you're probably getting more phone for sub-$200 with the Z10 here.

I'm debating picking up a Z10 (would be my 4th Z10 purchase, sold 1, have family using the other 2) just to have as an iPod/BBM device for one of my kids.

When I glanced and saw $100 off BlackBerry at ShopBlackBerry.com, I got very excited I must say. A Z30 for $100 off?? Sadly no, although the Canadian price is now $499 with $21 shipping, so sub-$600 taxes in which beats the best no contract, non-Kijiji price I've seen.

If I buy a white Q10 from the BB Shop will it be an unbranded one? What model do they sell on the shop? 100-1, 100-3, 100-5?!

Buy a discounted phone direct from BB and get a pre-paid service plan from almost any carrier in the world. Blackberry reduces liability on their unsold stock regardless of price. Everybody wins unless they feel the need to waste untold dollars on bloated lock-ins and hype. Bummer the Z30 isn't part of this though, otherwise I'd add one to my collection.

?Why not a discount on a Z30? I have a Z10 already, and have no desire for the Q series. In fact BlackBerry should be offering me more off of a Z30 because I was also a week one PlayBook 64GB customer and just found out that BlackBerry is killing off that product without delivering anything near what the company promised with the device.

Sorry but offering $100 off of devices that you have already written down, that is overpriced to begin with, and that most of your loyal customers already bought, is simply a hollow gesture. ? It has been very hard to remain loyal to BlackBerry customer of late, and I wonder when the loyalty that John Chen spoke of that is owed to the customers will materialize. This offer is just as big of a joke as the T-Mobile trade in offer a few weeks ago!

But not new customers. leverage your assets. I'm willing to bet BB's bean counters figured this deal into pulling out of T-Mob quite awhile ago. fractional increase in revenue is still an increase, plus elimination of overhead costs figured in.

I'm waiting for another carrier to bring a discounted Z30 or the next BB10 touch flagship. Until then I can live with my Z10STL100-3/10.2.1.2947 on T-Mobile. I've been with both companies for many years, but there's no way I'm going to use android or iPhone.

I'm with you Chen. Just let us know which carrier to switch to!

T-Mobile: Z10 $206, Q10 $278... with trade-in of any BlackBerry, free next day expedited shipping, dealing with T-Mobile

    BlackBerry: Z10 $199, Q10 $299, Q5 $249, upwards of 1 week to deliver, dealing with Digital River

Which deal is better/worse/both the same?
