I think OP wants to know if others in UK have received the update. People get updates at different times even if they are in the same region.

To find out if the update will be on OP's device soon. People are impatient when it comes to updates and I'm no different.

The benefit is knowledge. If nobody else has it, then the waiting game continues. If other people in the area have it, and he still hasn't gotten notified or can't force it to show, then he would know extra steps may be involved.

And why call it a farce? There have been many members on CB watching others enjoy 10.2.1 but have refused to install something that isn't official. Now it is, and they can use it once it becomes available.

Holidays and special occasions have confirmed dates too. And yet, people get excited. It's perfectly fine if you aren't. Don't add negativity where there doesn't need to be any. And yes, there was an official release date - it hasn't happened yet. That usually causes waves, especially when the historically last to update get it first.

Some of us have an unlocked phone and a plethora of sims. Add the fact that some of those people are too busy to obsessively keep checking the phone for updates, we'd rather just be told when it's available so we can update straight away.

There is no need to "obsessively checking for updates". Simply open CrackBerry app and it will tell you when it's released.
