My contact comes up for renewal soon and I want a Z30 but it seems to be unavailable.

How do BlackBerry think they are going to make money if their flagship phone is unavailable on any UK retailers.... none of the big stores have it, even online.

Yeah that makes sense. He's up for a contract renewal so let's go spend $500 on a new phone.

Maybe it has nothing to do with bb but rather the carriers? I'm sure bb would love for them to carry it.

It's not available anywhere. There is a higher demand for this phone right now then expected by BlackBerry. A good friend of mine is with BlackBerry, and has been waiting to pick me one up as well. It's been almost 5 weeks now I have been waiting, but I can't really complain because it's free.

It's not BlackBerry's fault that your carrier has chosen to not carry the Z30.

The problem is, that carriers make more (and faster) money if they don't display BlackBerries, but other phones.
    Opportunity costs.
    http://www.investopedia.com/terms/o/opportunitycost.asp

And that's obviously an issue for BlackBerry.
What I don't understand though, is why the carriers don't have it online, as a custom/special order with slightly longer waiting times, while BlackBerry has a low stock of the device themselves.

Prices on Amazon and the other online retailers who claim to have the Z30 in stock in my area went up ~5% since last week, which is unusual for a phone that is one year old and that was not very popular. And it's usually a sign for demand and supply shortage.

Fair point..... but even with Vodafone still supplying BlackBerry, you have to say UK in general is not really supporting BlackBerry.

    Which is such a disappointment.
