I have seen a bad issue with Hdmi output with the blackberry Z10.

When outputting to a TV through Hdmi, after around 7 to 10 min, the sound will be slightly off and slowly fall out of sync more to where playback is unwatchable. This has been an issue with video playback, game play, anything displayed for a while from the Z10 to any tv set.

This is with any format of video, application, audio, any game playback on the TV. Even if you play minion rush. This also happens with any tv as well. I have also used a few other people's Z10's and different tv's and different Hdmi cords and the same issue happens.

Is blackberry aware of this? This is the last thing stopping me from making this my main mode of computing on my TV, I hope they fix this sometime. I am surprised nobody else has seen this before.

If you have a Z10, try it yourself and you will see what I mean. I hope this gets fixed soon! I have been waiting for a while for this fix and I haven't heard any other reports on this.

Yup...there have been other threads on this. don't know why but it happens randomly for me. Anytime I'm watching Netflix or anything through hdmi, this happens. I believe it is a Z10 issue

I have not experienced this lag issue using Z10 HDMI. I use 10.2.1 on ATT.

Mine has done this ever since 10.2 went official. Strangely it never did it on a leaked 10.2.

It does it to different degrees on different movies.

I was actually wondering if maybe it had something to do with my memory card where all my movies are stored.

Wonder if it has to do with the Cord? I've never really been able to get my HDMI working on my Z10 at all (not sure if connection, cord, or just the old HDMI on my old Sony TV) but never worried about it (works on my PB HDMI).

When this sound lag occurs while watching pause then un-pause it. Should run normal again.

U are correct but that's a temporary fix. I shouldn't have to do it at all

The only lag I have ever seen on my Z10 when watching anything through HDMI on my TV have been issues with the videos I was watching as it behaved the same even when watching them both on the Z10's own screen. The issues where both from two BBC videos that BlackBerry gave away in their Christmas giveaway in the UK. All other videos or any games played on the TV via HDMI have been fine.

    Careful! Z10 in action!

And it doesn't work for the whole rest of the show. After a bit, the audio lag returns.

Yup, pause and unpause. This usually fixes it for me. Like with many BlackBerry 10 features (because they don't work as they should) you need to know a workaround.

Mine comes back at weird times. Sometimes it comes back 10 minutes later, and other times I can go a few episodes before it happens. Annoying either way though. Thinking about just buying a super long hdmi cable so I don't have to get up and pause/unpause it just to fix the issue lol

Strangely this does not happen for me over hdmi. However it does happen normally. Pausing rarely works as well for me, I have to exit the video and enter it again.

Same here on my STL100-4 with 10.2.1.2122. Lag when using the HDMI cable to TV, but I can sit and watch on the Z10 screen no prob... not cool!

I also have this same issue watching Netflix through a 6 foot HDMI cable on my Z10.

I lived with it for a while without complaint, due to the Z10 being such an excellent device all round.

Just last week I decided to try out a simple solution to my Netflix streaming needs.

    I purchased a Chromecast.

    So far, so good.

I've had this issue as well ; you are not alone. I find that pausing and then playing fixes the problem most of the time. Based on my understanding of HDMI signal processing, the cause of the problem is the Z10's processor. Audio and video streams pass separately through HDMI so on a non optimized processor, the two fall out of sync. I'm not too worried though; it's a simple fix. All BlackBerry has to do is patch a software fix that cross syncs audio and video to prevent output lag.
