Could dropping it somehow affect the trackball?
Mine dropped from couch to carpeted floor and the trackball is having problems scrolling now....could the fall be the cause?

My first drop happened last night and thank goodness I didn't see it happen. It was on my kitchen table and my back was to it. Next thing I knew heard I thunk and turned around and it was on the floor...my cat had decided she wanted to play with my blackberry and knocked it off the table. BB came through just fine thanks to my silicone skin and bestskinsever

those that have dropped it, and those that will!

I got one of those rubber pull-on skins for use around the house, and am really happy with it. I don't have to worry about it getting scratched from the desk or other stuff on the desk. When I go to the truck, it goes in its holder mounted to the windshield, for GPS nav.

So, it's not in my lap while I drive, and won't fall out when I get out.

I haven't dropped mine yet. I wanted to get in ahead of drops and bought an Otterbox so I'm not worried about it now.

My phone fell off my lap as I got out of my car, I completely forgot if the phone was on my lap, as I got in my car, it fell while I was texting (I guess my hand was too slippery for the phone), It fell at work, i guess it fell off my bed. I saw the scratches when I woke up (sometimes I sleep with the phone right next to me) and my Berry still looks brand new even with the mysterious scratches and accidental scratches, I should've really got the rubber case and leather case when I bought the phone. Sucks for me.

Next, an unfortunate phone drop on the MBTA?. That will suck. I better buy a case to prevent further drops.

First drop happened when trying to help one of my old reps jump start her car. She has a new manager and still comes to me for help...

So I finally go and help and while running to my car, it slipped out my pockets... I have cat like reflexes when it comes to my new toys, so my foot went out and caught it to break the fall as it flipped again off my feet onto the pavement. Had two super small nicks. I then exchanged my BB for another. Yay!

And no I didn't switch it cause of the drops, it was having issues with a white screen of death after hitting to disconnect button when another caller would call in.

You might want to try Best Skins Ever as they are cheaper than Invisible Shield and also you make your own solution/adhesive.

Mine happened at the beginning of last week. I have only had my 8310 for less than a month.

I was using the wired headset on a call (I don't have a Bluetooth one yet). I needed to get a file out and set my Curve on top of my file cabinet. I set something else on top of the cabinet and proceeded to close the drawer. Closing the drawer somehow pulled the headset cord and jerked the phone off of the top of the cabinet.

Luckily I am tall and the headset wire stopped the Curve and left it dangling a inch off of the floor. Phew! No drop. It has been a while since my heat beat that fast.

Feeling relieved, I put my phone back on top of the file cabinet. Then I did the EXACT SAME THING! This time the headset wire popped out of the jack and the Berry hit the floor. Thankfully there is not a scratch on it.

I think I will be ordering a skin very soon.

I just got my new phone about a week ago and I've been trying to avoid dropping as much as possible.
    Still going strong.

My last curve had scratches galore after the first drop.

I don't even remember my first drop since it was so long ago. I do remember that I was devastated because I got a huge scratch on the screen. But its all better now I finally got a replacement screen for it as well as the batter door. I have not dropped it since I made the face changes.

I've had my 8310 since late December of 2007. My first drop was onto my living room floor, which is carpet. Actually, that was my only drop.

    I'm pretty cautious

I have yet to get a case for any phone that I buy but am very particular and careful with them. I had by bb for less than a week and I always have it in the seat when I drive. Not on my lap, but nestled so that I can feel when I get a call. Anyway I grabbed it and hopped out of the truck with it in my hand. The wind caught the door and jerked my hand sending the bb flying. The battery cover and battery ejected as it hit the pavement. Some minor scratches on the corners but now I think it looks like poo. I express the dislike to the wife and she called it just a phone. If only she understood...

I'm new to the BB and today It had its first major drop. I was sitting in my lap and when I went to get out of my truck it went to the pavement. It got several minor scratches on the screen and sides but nothing major. I figured I would start this thread to see how and what happened on every one elses first drop.

I was going for a walk outside my job, listening to an audio book, and it just slipped out of my hand......yes, my heart stopped---but only very minor dings.
