I used to, but then I got my favorite type of case, silicone, and now it's always protected!
I just can't put it in my pocket, so I have to hold it all the time but that's okay.
With my 8300, 9000 and 9700 I always used the Blackberry cases that they came with.
My Torch is now on it's sixth case as they keep breaking but at least it's the cases breaking and not the phone!

I've got a screen protector on, it has some air bubbles under it but it does seem much easier to keep clean as I hated the finger prints the screen seemed to get.
I have found the build of my 9780 to feel good enough to go without a case. I suspect when I upgrade to the 9900 it will feel the same.
The 8700 didn't need a case. Neither did the 9000. But Blackberry released some creaky models between 9000 and 9780/9700, particularly with the Curve series that a case felt necessary.
I have an Otterbox for my 9780 as well as my PlayBook. But I've got a 3000 mAh battery on my 9000 and that beast is HUGE, so it goes naked. Nothing fits!

I use a defender on my 9700. Don't like or use the holster though. Need the protection as I work constrution . Like to take it out on occasion, evenings weekends or on holidays just for the cool factor......
I'm another one who likes my devices naked. Much better for showing off its natural beauty and because it just feels nicer in the hand. It's also easier to slip in and out of pockets that way. The only thing I have a cover on is my Glaxy Tab and that's so I can hold it easier.
But what if you drop it? I can't stand scratches and marks. And based on the fact the 9780 is pretty sensitive... Well.
I'm pretty particular about my devices as well but the key here is to NOT drop it. Serisouly, it really isn't that hard if you are always being careful. I almost NEVER drop my devices. I've just become very conscious about handling them so they don't get dropped. I also don't put them in my pocket with anything else (nothing)
i agree i think that the phone looks better without a case or maybe one that doesnt make the phone look to bulky and have style make the phone looks nice but right now i am using my white torch bare and love it... but i am plannin to get a holster so that when i go places i can carry it around and use it when i need to
well i used to not put a case on my phones but the 9780 seems to be sensitive, so i decided to get an otterbox impact. I like it naked but then i usually don't put my device on my pocket. Usually, i throw it in my bag since im a student!
I kind of like the bulk though since i have huge hands. Ill probably go naked a month or so before i get a new device.
My phones only wear a case for about a week when I get it...A good protective case is usually bulky and alters the feel of the phone in your hand. Most importantly it alters how the keyboard feels. As someone perviously said a few dings add charater...shows you really use the phone all the time.
The only thing that has not shed its case is my Ipad 2...The tablet is so thin that it feels so fragile naked. I Have a smart cover on the front and a modified silicone case for the back. The combination makes the Ipad 2 feel more solid and durable.
I use a Curve 8520 and I rock a hard Capdase Sea-Green colour for work times and during the weekend i use an orange BB Logo soft case...
I never use the phone without a case.......
The majority of the time my Tour is naked. Today I've got my Commuter on just for a change of pace. Used to have it on all the time, but recently it's been naked.
I'm a mess when it comes to cases man, it all depends on what I'm wearing. If I'm wearing my normal painters jeans, I either have it naked, or in the Commuter, and I carry it in the side pocket. If I'm wearing jeans with no side pocket I've got the BB sleeve that I put it in, cuz I'm anal about lint getting in my keyboard/trackball. If I'm working my part time job, or dressing more professionally, I use my BB leather holster.
With the PlayBook, I jockey between the convertible case and the neoprene sleeve that came with the PB.
