You referring to the Swiftkey licensed keyboard that BB10 users call BlackBerry's proprietary software?

I think it's actually Peter in character as Malcolm Tucker in his DP and anyway don't diss Peter he's the new Doctor and will stick his sonic screwdriver right up your farter.

I was just thinking to myself as I read all this controversy that we might have to make this decision and I have no idea what I would go to. I am happy with my Z10. I am unhappy with the management of Blackberry and the marketing of a very high grade phone. I have had my phone for 5 months and now they come out and say it is a lower tier phone. Compared to what? Don't they realize that they just downgraded everyone that invested in their phone? But what to change to? Love my Blackberry.....sigh.....

    I don't need to defend BB10.
Because my Z10 work well, help me much for work, update every week , just enough.
Let your friend hand ons BB10, and they will think about iOS enemy than android enemy
Blackberry just makes any cheaper device to popular BB10 for more users, show their the different between BB10 and Android or event iOS.

That's where being subject to the whims of management is a bit distasteful. Nevertheless, I am hoping the platform makes it through unscathed.

I am dreamer though. I still hope and pray that WebOS gets revived as well.
Same here, I still have webOS phones/ Tablets, just moved to BlackBerry after the joys of Android, I Hope BB10 survives if not can still use my Q5 what ever happens,

Indeed it's one of those profound ironies of life that whilst BB10 isn't perfect by any means it so obviously has a huge amount of potential and is a real pleasure to use. And this has happened as BBRY has fallen down to its knees. Just to compare like with (almost) like, as a major user of BBOS at what you might call its zenith, I can tell you that whilst it was highly mature and stable, it just didn't have a certain psychological compulsion about using it, like BB10 does. The new OS inherently has something to be optimistic about with regards to its future, if not the future of the original manufacturer of the OS!

I think you're right. The timing of BB10 was all wrong at the stage in the corporate life of BBRY. But given all the time that it took to get BB10 to market, I'm not sure BBRY had much time to play with.

I also think that given the timing pressures that BBRY was under to get BB10 out, what they put out, ultimately, was far from ready for prime time both from a usability perspective and also an app ecosystem perspective.

Finally, I think that BBRY's time and resource pressures meant that they weren't able to put out industry-beating hardware that would have done a better job of "wowing" the marketplace.

I think that all of these elements contributed to the failure of BB10 but who do/can you blame?

I think BBRY management misused the time and resources they had to bring BB10 to market. I believe that their arrogance lead them to believe that they could do no wrong and the fanboy community which just threw bouquets at BBRY regardless of the products they were selling led them to believe that they could win and that consumers had limitless patience to wait for the bug fixes and apps to show up.

It is truly a tragedy that a company with so much promise, so many advantages and incredible potential misjudged so much and because of its own missteps has found itself where it is today. BB10 really could have been a winner.

There's a difference between having our individual preferences and saying another platform doesn't have XYZ features when they clearly do.

I'm not trying to knock anyone for using a BB10 device even though I may have come off hostile, I am still rooting for them (although it is hard to considering their track record).

That's the thing though, isn't it? It took a week of getting used to but how many posts do you see, time after time, of BB10 users trying to swipe on all sorts of stuff.

It actually turned out to be pure CrackBerry!
OMG you are SO RIGHT!!! I have a Q 10 for work but still have a 9810 for personal use and now I am CONSTANTLY swiping that dumb thing and get frustrated when it doesn't work! LMBO
