I have seen some similar threads on this, but can't seem to resolve it on my 8800. I have the smiley face at the top of my home screen, but have no active BB Messenger contacts or pending BB Messenger messages. Tried to restart the BB, but did not remove the indicator. What else can I do?

hmmm thats pretty much it. The smiley is for BB Messenger, so if you don't have any new messages or pending requests then try a battery pull. If there is truly nothing in messenger the icon should disappear.

The yellow happy face on my 8100 indicates the push to talk is on and ready to be used.

The yellow smiley face that "looks right at you" is for the messenger.

The one that looks "off to the side" a little bit is for PTT.

Thanks - yes it is the PTT which I turned off. Is there any way to get rid of the smiley face that remains behind? Kind of a grayed out look.

Uninstall PTT! Do you even use it at all?

Saw in another forum here that it's an update to the hangman game I installed. Updated it and the smiley disappeared.

Thanks for all this information. I just started to get that stupid smiley face on my home screen. I don't even have the PTT option, but do have the hangman game. I turned off the notification for its new Daily Pack option and it doesn't show up anymore.

you can download the app call MaxMem which will give you to option to uninstall PTT. that should drag the icon with it.
