Wife and I were both on our Curves from about 10 to midnight til abou 10 after, counting down with relatives in SoCal. We're both on Sprint; no issues whatsoever. But, I suppose we were contributing to the network overload.

Last year on new years eve at midnight, I couldn't get through to anyone for 30 minutes or more. I was in palm beach florida and had verizon. Imagine what it would be like if a 9/11 type thing happened again? I remember how horrible the Nextel network reacted on 9/11, seemed like Nextel would never work again. These phone networks are so sensitive to things like "all of us using them at once"
I would like to know the anser to this question:
If everyone on Verizon Wireless used their phone at once, how many phones would work? 10%? 20%?

Yea network load was probably the factor with you losing service. I could just imagine all the calls that went out when midnight hit in NY.

I slept through the new year and woke up at 5am. When I looked at all my sms, they were all received at 1:22am saying "Happy New Year"

My first call was at 2:05am, but I had a few say they called at 12am. I checked youmail and saw they did indeed call.

There have been reports on the CrackBerry ModNet of polar bears in Winnipeg wearing winter coats. I blame them.
Looking out my window, this is what I spotted. The only solution is to give them Coca-Cola.

My power went out yesterday at 11:59 until today, 11:59.
My Zune somehow bricked its self, and won't even connect to my PC.

    My BlackBerry is fine... :P

Didn't that place behind the bear just shut down? I thought I heard something about it on one of the timeshifted TV news programs.

They still got the same crappy Salsbury House restaurant in the bridge. Hopefully Y2K9 got them and they'll end up putting a real restaurant in there.

Actually I just looked it up, it looks like they are closing the restaurant for the winter season due to a drop in business. Now a Crackberry Cafe would be great in that spot.

I was receiving text up to an hour late after 12 this morning. The networks were definitely being overloaded because my friend on Verizon couldn't even make calls.

Mine crashed and rebooted while taking a picture just after midnight. It's never done that before! I just looked and the last picture it took successfully before the one that crashed was at 12:08 and I was taking one about every minute, so...

Do I hear the Twilight Zone theme?

That's them. They are to blame. They are causing the BlackZune bug.

This is a bug reportly linked to blackberries at least that's what they are saying. it was to activate remote aceess to all of our Blackberry devices so the federal goverment can't listen to our calls and even listen to us when the phone is not activated by tuning in the mic.

I bought my first blackbery 4 years ago on 12-09 and my grandmas birthday was 12-18 and she died on her 81st birthday (8+1=9 12-18 - 9 days = 12-09) ! ..and I had gas for 90 minutes on 12-09 this year, then last night at 12:09 I had explosive diarrhea for 9 minutes from 12:09 to 12:18 then it mysteriously went away after taking 9 Immodium AD!

    And the Coca-Cola bears... nice...
