I think it might be a mix of satire or not, but always opinionated.

    Re the arguments ad hominem...
To be fair, some of the article is such hyperbole, misinformed generalizations, and/or outdated info that most members probably didn't see the point of actually arguing the comments' merit or lack thereof.
That's one theory. Mine however is most did not read the article at all.

Hello Crackberry fans! I'm what some of your more ardent fans refer to as an isheep. LOL. I have a mac, and an iphone and you can bet I'll be one of the folks in line for the iphone 5S when it comes out. But I like to keep abreast of what others are doing. (I think the Z10 has a far better keyboard and screen size than the iphone but its not enough to win me over) I also think competition is a good thing. If one company takes over completely and gains monopoly status, it tends to become lazy and stagnant. I want blackberry and microsoft to thrive and keep google and apple on their toes, each company trying to one up the others and thus we the consumers winning. I honestly do think blackberry is likely screwed at this point but I find that very depressing. if they do fall and microsoft too, then we have a duopoly between apple and google and less competition. Then if google or apple falls, we have a monopoly. why would anybody root for this? The guy who wrote this article fails to realize that if his prefered platform did gain the monopoly status, it would suck for him, as google would get lazy and stagnant. I like apple but I'm sure glad they're not a monopoly. otherwise iOS 7 wouldn't be coming. Here's hoping microsoft and blackberry gain more traction and this guy eats his own words.

It's great that we all know the failings of the article, but there are a lot more people out there who've read this and read it as the truth. Like Stephen Cooper said, it will be interesting to hear how (and if) BB responds.

I wonder if the author of this article ever tried a Blackberry phone for a while to see what it is really like???!!!

He has no idea about the security, email strength, personal and business management, and overall quality of the Blackberry product. This article really demonstrates the ignorance on part of the author! I wish there was some way my comment can get posted on Huffington Post.

You know this how? None of those were the point of the article and therefore were not mentioned. I am amused however by your assuming because the writer did not mention the things you consider important / selling points that he must not know about them. Yeah, that is completely unbiased and shows a certain level of ignorance itself.

Plenty of you keep harping on the fact that the writer himself was obsessing too much about size.
It correlated with his point on market share. Like I say in many of these threads, we are a very ve-
ry small percentage of smartphone users on these forums. We are the enthusiasts. The average
person buying a phone online or walking into a carrier store will be more impressed with a bigger
screen than the other specs that you and I (the enthusiasts) tend to look at. I'm pretty sure that if
I went out onto the street and randomly picked out 50 people to talk to, the ones who don't own an
iPhone or don't intend to will state that among other reasons, the screen is too small. Screen size
has become increasingly important in this smartphone age that we live in. Apple started the ob-
session when they came out with the iPhone.

    Here's what I read.

"I hate options!! I don't want any options, and I don't want anyone else to have options either. I have THIS phone, I like it and I don't know why everyone else doesn't agree with ME. Apple people and BlackBerry people are SOOO annoying with how much they love their phones, yammering on about them all the time. I HATE that. My phone is the only one they should have, and the only one ANYONE should have, period."

Here is what I don't like.

    1. The author admitted in his article that he has never owned a BlackBerry. So the question is how can one credibly write a review of a product he has never owned? It's like a person writing a movie review of "Batman - The Dark Knight " without even watching the movie.

    2. He got very personal and derogatory towards people who like the product that he hated. Instead of just saying that he disliked the BlackBerry phone and this is the reason why. He wished death and the demise of BlackBerry as a company and made derogatory remarks of members of the Crackberry website.

    3. Then he goes on to compare size. Does he not know that the BlackBerry Z10 is larger than the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5 and slightly smaller than the HTC One? And all of them are considered good phones. Not everyone wants a 5.7" phone, some are more comfortable with a 4" or a 4.2" inch and he just does not get it.

To me and many others, the author is not writing an opinion, but is basically trying his best to antagonize and provoke a negative response from those that he disagrees with. And in his article he clearly demonstrates his ignorance and lack of understanding of products.

Nowhere did he say THAT. His exact words were: "In fact, I will never own a BlackBerry, Mac, iPhone, iPad;" That does not say or infer "never owned" by any stretch of the imagination.

    2. He got very personal and derogatory towards people who like the product that he hated. Instead of just saying that he disliked the BlackBerry phone and this is the reason why. He wished death and the demise of BlackBerry as a company and made derogatory remarks of members of the Crackberry website.
Again his exact words: "If there's anything more annoying than some gooey-eyed Apple aficionado sidling up to me uninvited at a bar to show me their new iPhone 5, it's trying to have any kind of meaningful conversation with a 'Crackberry' addict as they manically type away on their tiny screens." Now tell me, what is derogatory there. Where is the expression of hate? There was no insult hurled at anyone, just an expression of PERSONAL annoyance. And please tell me that you know that by "CrackBerry" he meant the commonly used description of the device (used mostly by fans) and NOT this website

Has it not occurred to you that the people he is encountering are not using the Z10 and therefore it has nothing at all to do with his basis of comparison?

To me and many others, the author is not writing an opinion, but is basically trying his best to antagonize and provoke a negative response from those that he disagrees with. And in his article he clearly demonstrates his ignorance and lack of understanding of products.
To me and many others, those of you perpetually aggrieved by anything that is not a glowing and treacly dissertation on BlackBerry are behaving as if someone openly called your sister a s|ut. It's one guys opinion, take it for what it is.

It's not the size of your screen that matters...... it's how you use it.

Journalism is dead. Any blogger with a whacked out, uninformed, naive, angry opinion on any and every subject is considered a journalist and many buy into this theory that "they must know what they are talking about". This guy thinks screen size is the reason BlackBerry sunk and is for sale. He believes Samsung is number one because it has bigger screens than iPhone or BB. How can you even start to have an intelligent response to that? It's like arguing with a drunk.

What he's insinuating is that the writer didn't say that he hadn't owned any of those products previously.
And even if he hasn't it doesn't mean that his experience with devices like that have to come because
he actually has owned any of them. Plenty of members who frequent this site, and, with a high post
count have countless opinions on other platforms for devices they haven't owned and admitted it. It's
    no different here.
