Yup, been there but now I'm in semi retirement.

I could not work for BlackBerry with the slow pace they are moving at. I understand that there must be a lot going on behind the scenes but from the outside, to me at least, BlackBerry looks as dull and boring as a dark grey suit. I suppose that is to be expected considering the target market that BlackBerry is aimed at for now.

Don't get me wrong, BB10 is my mobile OS of choice and despite trying different phones I'm still happily using my trusty Z10.

I would but I don't think I'd like the current company. A lot of people are probably recovering from the layoffs and have a general apathy concerning the company until it's well in its turnaround. I'm a software dev and Id imagine they're pushing them super hard now, hopefully with recognition.

I'm also not sure how blackberry employees feel about a U.S. boss who commutes just to 'save' a Canadian company from being bought and sold off into pieces while the old senior mgrs who had a lot of friends are leaving the company

I would totally love for BlackBerry BUT there are a number of barriers for this:

1) I'd have to quit my current job. While the job isn't the important part, I'm 12 years away from pension and I'm only 31 y/o right now.
2) I don't think that my skillsets are the right ones that the company employs currently. I'm not into the IT world nor programming, etc. So finding a position would be tough.
3) I'd have to pack up and leave my current city (Kingston, Ontario). For those who have never been here this place rocks.

Maybe one day, i do have a look at their postings and am following their jobs channel but really just out of interest more than anything at this point.

I just went on line to check out Kingston, Ontario. What a beautiful city! No wonder you don't want to leave! Oh, and to answer the question, yes, I'd love to work for Blackberry. I'd have no issues moving from Chicago to Waterloo.
