Yeah, I'd go with the 9700 as well. Trackpad, 3G speed, better battery life, and is going to get OS 6.

i wouldnt call the 8900 outdated. its still a great bang for the buck, but not for $200. that was the going rate a few months ago.

the 9700 is definitely a better choice for all the above mentioned reasons. but the 9700 should still have a factory 1 yr warranty. what do you mean it has no warranty.

I think you lose the 1yr warranty if its bought unlocked from some random retail/online store

i would be surprised to see that. its a manufacturers warranty against defects, regardless where its sold or who buys it. it may be different than a warranty from a store or carrier. i would check with RIM.

i know that. but what im saying is the phone should still carry a 1 year manufacturers warranty from RIM against defect from the date of manufacture or purchase. you wont get a store or retailer warranty, but you should still get one from RIM.

here is a copy of the warranty for UK devices, i cant see it being much different for anywhere else.

Well if you find the 3G, trackpad, OS6, bold keys worth a $100 more compared to the curve 8900 then by all means you should go for the 9700. Try to not pay attention when people say the 8900 or 9700 is outdated coz its not, if that was the case then i can gladly say that all blackberrys including the 9800 are outdated in comparison to the whats really out there in the market.

And in most cases I wouldnt really pay for any gadget without a warranty thats worth more than a $100, unless otherwise its somewhat 50 - 75% cheaper than the retail price and the seller is trustworthy.
