    if my phone is off and i get mail, would they be in my inbox when i turn my phone back on?

    I'm still pretty new, but pretty sure that when you power on the phone and it connects to your network, that is when it downloads whatever mail you have from your server...similar to a computer.

    Yes the mail would be recieved when you turn the phone back on. I turn my phone off overnight sometimes I receive my mail as soon as I turn it on the next morning.

    yup, Frieden Halter is right. when i'm in the subway (no reception) i don't get any messages while i'm down there, but once i get to an area with better reception, i receive all my messages. sometimes it takes a while (a minute or two), and worst case scenario is you'll need to do a battery pull, but you should be fine.

    don't worry
    they will still be pushed to your device after you turn on connections or if you happen to fall out of connection range
