Pretty sure OP is referring to the device and not the company formerly known as RIM.

SMH at the 660 processor. They need something with better specs.

I don't do mid range on Android, period. Planned obsolescence is a thing. Flagships from 3 years ago could easily run Android 8.1 flawlessly but they intentionally code the OS to cause lag and slowdown on older flagships and mid ranges that should technically be fine.

If mid range devices ran just as good as flagships, then why would anyone buy an expensive phone? They plan this stuff out. Google has ultimate control over android, and what a surprise, their $1000 Pixel device runs it perfectly with the same hardware as many others. This isn't a coincidence.

Still a mid-range chip and by the time we see the phone released that 660 will still be outperformed by (what will by then) a two year old 820. So really it's more of the same. The midrange chips get better, and the flagship chips get better. Net result: meh.

Mid-range chip = better battery life.

I'd rather wait a few more milliseconds for my apps to launch than have to worry about plugging in mid-day.

It's well worth the extra speed when a device like the P10 Plus packs a 3750 mAh battery and quick charge that brings about %60 charge in half an hour.

Android lag and hangups suck. Period. I'm a former BB10 hardcore holdout. I demand flow and speed.

Maybe, could be possible but keep in mind the screen ratio and resolution. That one looks like between 1:1 square and 4:3.

I somehow have a feeling that is the upcoming KeyTWO. A mishmash of Passport and KeyOne. Wish the dimensions were near the Passport's and with the same three row PKBb (BB's best PKB).

The fact that many people put so much attention to phone processor specs proves just how boring and bland smartphone design has gotten. Since most are slabs of glass, there isn't much to talk about the exterior design, therefore, spec wars and geekbench crap.

Does anyone seriously base their phone purchase on benchmark scores? Why do those even exist if real world usage varies tremendously based on different factors.

It is a numbers game my friend, and you are the wrong side of the equation. With BBMo's numbers game...you get a mid-range phone being inflated, with some like yourself misrepresenting on TCL's behalf as appearing to have quasi-flagship specs. Lol. Not even TCL would make such a ridiculous claim.

We saw the same BS with the 625. It looked great on paper next to the 808/810. Unfortunately the real world results don't match up. Not even the battery life. The proof? You shouldn't need to underclock, stick in a weaker GPU, and hook it up to a huge honking battery if the CPU is truly more efficient. What you also get with the 625 ( and 660) is lower clock speed, lower end gpu, lower end modem, and slower disk speeds. It's just more of the same. Except this time, the two year old flagship reference CPU will be the 820. All this while Samsung's 9 will pack an 845...the only thing the 660 has going for it in this market is ignorance... (a) it is a 'new' chip so most people will assume it is the most current tech and (b) people coming over from a BB10 will see it as an upgrade.

Have you even looked at the comparison or just go on spewing whatever you think is the case based on the fact that the number 820 is bigger then the number 660?

At the end of the day, if people want a PKB, they will buy the damn phone. As long as it's not unbearably slow, and I don't think neither a 625 or 660 are.
Enough with the numbers, no one buys a BB for their chipset.

    It's about:

    -PKB
    -Battery life
    -Extra security

Many could care less about not packing the latest and greatest.
